This Week...
In Math, we have loved all things shapes! A class favorite to help us learn those basic shapes has been a song called Shape-A-Loo, ask your child to sing it at home! We just started our 3D shapes today and will continue working on those next week! We will also begin working on addition!
In Reading, students really connected well to texts and found all kinds of ways to relate to various characters in the different stories we read. We also started to read a couple of Mo Willem's Piggie and Elephant series...I have a feeling these are going to be a favorite. We also worked hard on finding the sounds within words and chopping them up to solve what letter makes that sound. We started with beginning sounds this week and will continue into next week.

Grandparents' Day was such a success! Please let those who attended know how much their presence was appreciated. So many of our grandparents adopted fellow students and this is the first year I've not had a single tear shed! All students felt so loved and involved. We have a very special group of families this year. Check out the pictures below!
We started by sharing our homemade gifts, then played Role-A-Grandparent while we waited for all to arrive. We then read a short book to our grandparents and finished by playing letter BINGO!
Also check out the video Miss Baker, our cadet teacher from FHS, helped us make to welcome our Grandparents today!
Scholastic Book Order
Scholastic Book Orders went home last week and orders are due next Wednesday, September 30th! I will place the order after school on Wednesday.
Order online by clicking on the link below! (Remember our class code is GNZZ7).
Discovery News
Hello wonderful parents!
This is Mrs. Foust with our news from Discovery. This week our rhyme was, “Hey Diddle, Diddle.” Students practiced a clap, clap, pat, pat beat to go with the rhyme. We also worked on an art piece to give to Grandparents on their special day. For Social Skills, we continued our Feelings unit, focusing on the feelings of surprise and anger. Next week we will investigate the “1,2 Buckle My Shoe” rhyme.
