Principal's Message

This week Sunny Heights hosted the first "Donuts with Dads" which was a huge success! We had over 200 people (kids, dads, uncles, grandfather, friends, and more). Family and school connections are vital to our student's success. As a school, we will continue to create opportunities and events that help build as well as strengthen that connection. Stressing your child's attendance each and every day is the first and most important thing we as parents can do to help our child and school succeed. Thank you all for all that you do!!

Your PROUD Principal,

Barton Lewis

CLASSROOM VISITS

In an effort to keep all children safe, anyone wanting to visit the classroom, have lunch with a child, and/or go on field trips must come to the school office to complete a background check. Please bring ID at that time. Visits are limited to 15 min. throughout the day. During those 15 min., parents are not able to talk with teachers. We do not want to interrupt class time. If you would like to meet with the teacher, schedule a meeting with the teacher prior to your visiting the school.

Winter Recess

It is that time of year when we need reminders to make sure our children have appropriate clothing for recess. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees.

PLAYWORKS in action at Sunny Heights Elementary

Big picture
Playworks coach Bailey Smith gathers a group of Sunny Heights Elementary School third-graders during recess on Nov. 16, 2018. Playworks, as well as partner Jump In for Healthy Kids, aims to keep kids healthy and active. At Sunny Heights, where students only have physical education daily once every four weeks, this souped-up version of recess can fill the void.
