Facts about Magnesium

- Magnesium was recognized as an element in 1755

-Magnesium was first isolated by an English chemist Humphrey Davy, and was discovered through the magnesium oxide and Mercuric oxide in 1808.

-its first use was discovered by a farmer who recognized that it can heal scratches and wounds

  • Density: 1.738 g/mL
  • Melting Point: 650 C

  • Boiling Point: 1107 C

  • there are many metal alloys made out of magnesium such as Duralumin

  • Are used in car seats, luggage, laptops, and cameras

  • Also used in flares, fireworks, and sparklers due to being flamable

  • In different forms of the element it can be used in dyes

  • Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate: MgSO
  • Magnesium Oxide: MgO
  • Magnesium Hydroxide: Mg(OH)2
  • Magnesium Carbonate: MgCO3
  • Magnesium Sulfate: MgSO4
