Raddatz Review

Jars Needed!
We are in need of clean, empty jars (spaghetti sauce, pickles, etc.). Please send them in ASAP. Thanks!
Reading
We continue to study nonfiction text in our reading mini lessons. We are discussing the importance of paying attention to all of the parts of nonfiction text including the title and headings, captions, pictures, graphs, fact boxes, and so many other bits of information.
The students have been practicing reading sections of a text and naming the main idea and details which support the main idea. This can be a real challenge! We will continue to practice this skill.
Writing
In writing, we were studying personal essays and creating belief statements for each student to support based on life experiences.
However, we had to take a break in order to create a book that we can publish for FREE. The students are each writing about a family tradition that they enjoy.
A form is coming home today. In order to get the free class book, every parent needs to sign the paper. You DO NOT need to order a book--you can just check the NO box and return with your signature. If you do want to order, you can obviously do that as well.
Please return ASAP. These need to be in the mail on Thursday! Thanks for your help!
Social Studies
We have wrapped up our unit on invisible forces in science and now we move back into social studies. We will continue our study of early Michigan history.
Holiday Party
The holiday party is Thursday, December 22nd at 2:45. Look for a Sign Up Genius to sign up to help soon.
Math
We are continuing to study multiplication concepts. We have studied arrays, number lines, and pictures. We will begin ratio tables soon. Here's some examples in pictures.

This is where we are headed next!
Winter Break
Winter break will be here soon. I know school is open later than usual -- all the way through December 23rd. As I plan lessons, if you will be leaving early for vacation or holiday plans, please let me know so I can alter plans as needed.
Many thanks and safe travels over the holidays!
