THE REVEILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SPIRIT TEAM SENDS YOU CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS
The SPIRIT Team at Reveille United Methodist Church sends you best wishes for a joyful Christmas season filled with the light and love of Christ. SPIRIT is the acronym for Swansboro Partners Inspiring Relationships in Christ Together. We thank you for your interest and support of this growing ministry in Richmond and are excited to see all that God has done to expand our outreach program in the Swansboro community. This newsletter will highlight some of our exciting fall events and future activities.
Advent Brings Us a Time to Reflect
This Advent season provides us a time of reflection on the past year and how God has blessed the growing relationships with our two Swansboro partner churches, Koinonia Christian Church and Love Center of Unity. We've experienced tremendous growth in the music ministry program at Koinonia, more volunteers helping with Girl Scouts and a great celebration and dedication of the new youth center at Love Center of Unity. A special thanks to Sarah Anne Reed for working with the Girl Scouts at Koinonia. Special thanks also to the many Reveille members who brought desserts and attended a celebratory luncheon, tour and dedication for the new youth wing at Love Center of Unity. Patsy Beulow originated the theme of the day which was "Raise the Roof for the Youth." Patsy and her husband Dwight brought son, Grayson to the celebration on November 23rd. Other Reveille members present were Tommy Threewitts (who made remarkable carrot cake muffins), Carol Hampton, Bob Downs, Katie Anthony, Sheelagh and Dick Davis, Carol Kern, Kathy and Graham Driver, Sarah Anne Reed and the John Rainey family.
A Time to Give Thanks
The SPIRIT team is truly thankful to the many volunteers and mentors at Swansboro Elementary School. The Fall Festival was a rousing success organized by Jean Donaldson and Sarah Anne Reed. Thank you to the many Reveille members who donated cakes for the cake walk. This was easily the most popular event of the afternoon. Special gratitude is extended to Carol and Mary Kern who organized volunteers from Mary's Girl Scout troop for the day. Other Reveille youth helpers included Dameon Hite, Marielle Speer, Walker Speer and Grayson Rainey. Reveille
also coordinated a successful winter coat drive for children at Swansboro Elementary. Through the efforts of Sheelagh Davis, 70 coats were collected for the children! Upcoming events are filling the calendar! In January, we will be working with the third and fourth grade girls for a series of workshops on Girl Power and Self Esteem. Read Across America Day is coming, too. Look for more details next month!
