We are down to the Sprint! We have 14 days left and we know you have been working so hard to ensure engaging and meaningful learning right until the very end of the year. Step back, look at your class and be in awe of the great accomplishments they have made this year due to your hard work. You have done an amazing job, students have grown so much, and we are so proud of you all! Have a great week!

Curriculum & Instruction
HMH Leveled Readers
The HMH leveled readers and writing prompts are complete. They have been copied to our staff information course for you to copy to your courses. In the JCE Staff Information course, look for the HMH Leveled Readers folder. Within it, there are folders for each level. For levels A-C, you will find links to all of the texts. For levels D-Z, you will find a folder for each text. It has the text and writing prompt in formats that can be completed online (We included both an itslearning assignment and a Google Doc.). Remember that you will use groups in itslearning to assign by reading group/level. You will need to set folders as active or inactive based upon each week’s assigned text or texts. Please see Danette or Emily if you have any questions.
Guidance/Connections: IMPORTANT CHANGES, PLEASE READ!!!
Kindergarten and First grades will be with me in Connections/Guidance May 4 - May 11.
Second and Third grades will be with me in Connections/Guidance May 12 -May 18.
Fourth and Fifth grades will be with me in Connections/Guidance May 23 - May 26.
This will allow me to do the end of year transition lessons with most of the classes at the actual end of the school year!
Career Lessons & Portfolios:
If you have all of your career lessons completed, please download the blank form (found on Share > Counseling > Career Lessons Rosters) and complete for your class. I need all of these completed forms printed and returned to me in paper copy, no later than Friday May 20th, 2016! Please come talk to me as soon as possible, if you think you will not be able to have all of the lessons done and the form completed and turned in to me by May 20th. Please print your form and turn in to me as a paper copy. Fifth grade, please let me know if there are any issues with the Career Portfolios as soon as you become aware.
Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast:
The Volunteer Breakfast will be May 13th, 8:30-10:00, in the cafeteria. I have sent out a Sign-up Genius for the food items we will need. Many of you have already signed up – Thank you!! If you have not had the opportunity to sign up yet, please do so. All items will need to be brought to the cafeteria no later than 7:45 am, Friday (May13th) morning. It would be great if you could work something out with a team mate and swing down and say hello to the volunteers anytime between 8:30 and 10:00 am. I have a list of those who RSVPed ‘yes’ if you would like to stop by and take a look to see if your volunteers will be there. There were only a few who are not going to be able to make it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
House Meeting, Friday, May 13th, from 2:00 to 2:45 pm. The Time Is Now!
We have moved the time back due to the Fifth grade Day of Charity. I will have a power point emailed out today, or tomorrow at the latest, for Friday’s meeting.
Please let me know if you need anything!
Have a great week,

Leadership Academy for Instructional Media and Technology
The Instructional Technology Department is pleased to offer a new course beginning in the Fall of 2016 that combines the best of the Aspiring ITS and Instructional Leadership for Library Media Specialist courses. In this course, we will honor the rich partnership that can be created between the Instructional Media and Instructional Technology Specialists, while at the same time respecting the uniqueness of each position. This course is for Forsyth County educators in their first year of service as an ITS or in a media center, current teachers with an interest in working in Instructional Media or Technology, and those currently working in these areas with an interest in improving skill sets. Click here for more information, and complete this form to apply by May 25. (You must be signed in to your forsythk12.org Google account to access the form.)
