Senior Information Needed
- Transcripts - make sure you let Mrs. Ingram know of any colleges you have applied for. Sending transcripts is a part of the college application process. Even if you were able to self report your transcript, you still need to let us know you self reported the transcript. The colleges will need your final official transcript at the end of the year. Those have to come from our office!
- Graduation information - make sure you have ordered your graduation attire and verified how you want your name written on your diploma. See Mrs. Wildermuth in the front office with questions.
- Scholarships you receive - Please stop by the counseling center and let Mrs. Ingram know what scholarships you have received. Students are honored for their scholarships at Honors Night and the list is also sent to the newspaper.
NECC Scholarships
Northeast Community College has a variety of ways that Norfolk Senior High can apply for scholarships. Some are available to all students planning to go to NECC. Some are specific to our school. Click on the titles below for a link to each scholarship
- General Scholarship - Available to anyone who has applied to NECC. Log in as a first time user to create an account to complete the scholarship application online. That single application will be used to consider students for all Northeast scholarships except those that indicate a separate application is required. The scholarships are listed on the NECC website. Deadline is March 1st.
- Deans Scholarship - NHS can select one recipient and two alternates for a $500 Dean's Scholarship. To apply, students must have a 2.0 or above GPA (78%). Students should complete application and return it to the counseling center by February 27th at 2:00 pm. Note: The Deans and Lee Rawhauser use the same application. Just complete it once to apply for both.
- Lee D. Rawhouser Scholarship - NHS can select one recipient for this scholarship as well. This scholarship is based on financial need. Students should complete application and return it to the counseling center by February 27th at 2:00 pm. Note: The Deans and Lee Rawhauser use the same application. - Board of Governors Merit Scholarship - This scholarship is based on academic achievement as demonstrated on the students ACT, Accuplacer, or MAP test scores. ACT composite of 23 or higher. Refer to the application for Accuplacer or MAP scores. The award is for full tuition for a maximum of four consecutive academic semesters (fall and spring terms only) for a student starting college in the fall term and who graduated from high school the previous school year. Students must also maintain a 3.50 GPA. Students should complete the application and return to the Financial Aid Office at NECC by March 1st. Note: The Board of Governors and President's Scholarship use the same application. Just complete it once to apply for both.
- President's Scholarship - This scholarship is based on academic achievement and completion of at least one Northeast college credit class while in high school (dual credit classes). The award is for one-half tuition over 4 consecutive academic semesters (fall and spring terms only). Students should complete the application and return to the Financial Aid Office at NECC by March 1st. Note: The Board of Governors and President's Scholarship use the same application. Just complete it once to apply for both.
- McIntosh-Davis/Chambers Scholarship Program - This scholarship program has been established to recognize academically-promising students from diverse backgrounds. Please refer to the application for additional information. Completed applications are due at NECC Financial Aid Office on April 1st.
NE Women's Amateur Golf Association
The Nebraska Women's Amateur Golf Association will administer five (5) $1000 scholarships in 2019. Those eligible are Female Nebraska High School Seniors who have played high school golf and are furthering their education at a 2-year, 4-year, or technical school in Nebraska.
A scholarship will be awarded to an applicant in each NWAGA region (Eastern Nebraska, Central Nebraska and Western Nebraska) with the remaining two (2) scholarships awarded regardless of region.

Future Teachers UNK
The University of Nebraska at Kearney now has 40 FREE TUITION scholarships available for future teachers. This is your chance to make a difference through the new Teachers Scholars Academy.
The scholarship provides tuition for both resident and non-resident students for up to 120 credit hours, which is a bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Additionally students in this program will receive $8,000 annually (fall and spring semesters) which can be used to help pay for room and meals and fees. The University requires freshmen to live on campus. The scholarship can apply to on campus room and meals. If a student in the academy chooses to move off campus after the freshman year, the student can use the scholarship toward off campus room and meal costs.
A high school student who has been admitted to the University of Nebraska at Kearney for the 2019-2020 academic year may apply if they meet the following criteria:
a. High School GPA of at least 3.5
b. Minimum composite ACT score of 22 or SAT composite score of 1140 OR a class rank in the top 25% of their high school graduating class.

Goodrich Scholarship - UNO
This e-mail serves as a reminder that the Goodrich Scholarship Program application closes March 1, 2019 at 5:00PM (CST). Applicants can apply online at https://goodrich.fluidreview.com/. Unofficial high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores are directly uploaded by the applicant in their Goodrich application account.
The EPPE is all online. Directions for this process can be reviewed at http://www.unomaha.edu/enrollment-management/testing-center/placement-exams/english-placement-proficiency-exam.php. Applicants must have their UNO NetID credentials (username and password) to register for this ONLINE free exam. February 22, 2019 is the FINAL ONLINE EPPE date that will be accepted for Goodrich applicants--planning ahead is essential for processing.
2019-20 NE Poultry Education Scholarship
2019-2020 Nebraska Poultry Education Scholarship
Nebraska residents, those attending school in Nebraska, or those interested in a career in poultry based in Nebraska are encouraged to apply for the 2019-2020 Nebraska Poultry Education Scholarship.
A total of four $1,000 scholarships may be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year. The four scholarships are awarded based on college credit hours completed (0-26 Freshman, 27-52 Sophomore, 53-88 Junior, 89 or more Senior). Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application. All winners will be notified no later than April 1, 2019.
If awarded, the scholarship will be awarded directly to the educational institution. Applicants and winners are encouraged to apply each year and can be awarded the scholarship multiple times but not totaling more than $1,000 per academic year. Winners are required to attend the Nebraska Poultry Industries Annual Banquet to be presented the scholarship. Non-traditional students are encouraged to apply.

American Legion Scholarships
The American Legion offers a number of scholarships and other resources to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. Each year, the Legion facilitates the awarding of millions of dollars in scholarships to high school students. There are opportunities for everyone.
The American Legion, Department of Nebraska will award up to four (4) Jim Hurlbert Memorial Baseball Scholarships (due on June 15th) to American Legion Baseball players and also an annual scholarship for students planning to enroll in a Nebraska educational facility of higher learning with the 2019 Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship (due on March 1st).
Battle Creek Farmers Coop
Farmers Pride will award $400 scholarships to eligible seniors. High school seniors who will be enrolling at a post-secondary school and majoring in agriculture or an agriculture-related program are eligible to apply. Completed applications should be returned to the counseling center by March 5th at 4:00 pm.
Scott Mecham BBB Student of Integrity Awards
Better Business Bureau (BBB) Foundation serving Nebraska, South Dakota, The Kansas Plains and Southwest Iowa is notifying you that it is accepting applications from high school seniors for the 2019 Scott Mecham BBB Student of Integrity Awards.
This year, three students from Metro Omaha/Southwest Iowa and three students from Metro Lincoln and Greater Nebraska will each be granted $2,000 college scholarships.
These scholarships are not based on ethnicity, need or grade point average, but recognize students who exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity, and who demonstrate humility, courage, compassion and respect for their peers, teachers and community — values of the BBB.
The application guide with complete instructions and required forms can be accessed at bbb.org/nebraska by clicking on the link “Student of Integrity Award Scholarship” on the bottom of the homepage. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, March 8, 2019 and sent to BBB’s office in Lincoln to be considered by the judges. Scholarship winners will be announced in April.
NATA Scholarship
- A $1,000 and $500 scholarship presented by the Nebraska Aviation Trades Association are awarded to any high school senior or individual who is a resident of the state of Nebraska continuing their education as a full-time student.
- All applications with an essay of a minimum of 400 words typed and double spaced, must be received by March 15, 2019. The Essay topic is Ag aviation safety is created by many members of an aviation community. How would you improve the safety of your ag community?
- Applicant must use an official application which has been dated and signed by the student. Typewritten applications are preferred but handwritten submissions are acceptable, except for the essay which MUST be typed and double spaced.
- Winner will be notified prior to May 15, 2019.
