Covid-19 Virtual Learning
Mr. Washington's Principal Message
Hello Coyle Families,
I hope the Coyle community is doing well. There are some updates that I wanted to make sure I share with the community. Included in this newsletter is the new Virtual Learning Schedule that we are now using. We made the change to provide more opportunity for students to focus on one core subject at a time, each day. Teachers will still be available for assistance through out the week. Simply email them with any request you may have for work assistance. Below is a picture of the schedule but you can click on the grey button title CMS Virtual Learning schedule and it will take you to the web page for clearer viewing purposes. Every grey button in the newsletter is a hyperlink and when you click it, it will take you to the website containing that information. I hope this helps!
Next week progress reports go home. As you know, we combined the 5th and 6th six weeks to close out this school year. Although students are not penalized for turning in late work and all assignments may be submitted up to May 18th, the teachers were instructed to currently give zero's for any missing assignments. This may impact a lot of students grades at this time but we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of their current standing. The work can still be turned in and this will be reflected in the updated grade at no penalty to the student. The most important thing is communicating with your child's teacher to understand how they are doing and if they have any missing assignments. Please refer to the district page about grading expectations for everyone.
We are collecting any consumable assignments that students have received on May 6th at Coyle Middle School from 3 pm to 6 pm. We will have three boxes set up on the front porch. One for each grade level. Please place the assignment in the box but make sure your child has their name, ID number, teacher's name, and grade level on the front of the packet. If you have any questions please send me an email for clarity.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week.I am proud of how hard our teachers are working and learning new skill sets for on-line learning. Our staff faced adversity and did not flinch as our team worked through digital learning within a few weeks. Coyle's teachers are truly one of a kind. Please help us celebrate and honor our beloved teachers this week. Send them an email thanking them, have your child write a thank you note or even make a Tik Tok video to say thanks. If you want to thank them on twitter use the #Teacherappreciationweek @coyle_cougars and send a positive message. Show your teachers that you're his or her biggest fan by giving them a digital gift card. It doesn't have to cost a lot-a Starbucks coffee, a Netflix rental, a Sonic drink, a DQ treat, amazon, local restaurants, Michael's, or even office Depot. It is the thought that counts and our teachers definitely deserve praise!
Please take care of yourself and your family!
