A Word From Mrs. Loor
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break and got the much needed time to rest and relax with our family and friends. I know I relished the time I had with my children (and the chance to clean my house!).
We had a fun week leading up to it with Mrs. Burr's P.E. Showcase. Thank you for participating by coming in and experiencing what a modern P.E. class looks like. We hope you will join us again next year!
The fifth grade students collected a total of $698.60 for GRACE from the Wax Museum. They also participated in their service project by making cards and placemats for SAGE Eldercare and gathering items for GRACE. Great job, Falcons!
Congratulations to our 5th Grade Battle of the Books team, The Bookworms: Ellie Bachman, Anna DiGeronimo, Becky Kaplan, Laurel Patel, June Whittle. WE WON! Congratulations as well to our 4th Grade Jeffrey Bagels - Satchit Betigeri, Seth Egbetola, Conor Huffman, Henry Lehrhoff, Lucas Lopes da Costa. Coming in 3rd place! So proud of you all!
We finished the week bringing awareness to the neurodiversity in our community. Thank you to Mrs. Winchester-Karpinski, Ms. Ciccarelli, Ms. Luther, Mrs. Hans and Ms. LoConte for organizing the week and providing us with resources to teach our students about the wonderful uniqueness of differences in our learning and physical abilities.
Have a great week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor
Note regarding Smart Watches
A gentle reminder that although many of our students have smart watches (lucky kids), they should not be using them to call/text home or other people during the school day. This is not allowed for several reasons – but mostly because we are responsible for students during the school day and we need to know if someone is in need of help.
Please know that if your child needs to call home, he/she can use the classroom phone, nurse’s phone or main office phone. Likewise, if you need to get in touch with your child, you can call the school and we will relay any message you need to get to him/her.
Here are a couple of solutions to this concern:
- Students can leave their smart watches at home
- Students can wear their smart watches but parents can use the school-time setting on the device
- Students can wear their smart watches but keep it turned off during school hours
- Students can keep their smart watches in their backpacks during the school day and put it back on at the end of the day
Please discuss the following solutions with your children and let them know they may not use their watches during the school day. Also, please be aware that the teachers may use their discretion to ask students to put their smart watches away into their backpacks. Any personal items brought to school is at the risk of the owner and the school will not be held liable for lost or damage to said items.
Thank you for your help!
