The number of positive cases in Tau 7 - 13 has continued to climb over the weekend. We also now have a number of pouako in these areas who have either tested positive or are isolating. This means it is no longer safe or sustainable to teach on-site for some year groups.

Tau 7 - 13

Kura will be closed for Tau 7 - 13 on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 March. This will allow time for devices and materials to be organised for distribution and collection. Tau 7 - 13 will move onto online learning from home from Wednesday 9 March. Tauira and whānau will receive more details directly from their pouako over the next two days, including the wātaka and links to online hui.

Learning online for Tau 7 - 13 will remain in place until the end of Friday 18 March. Although the intention is to return to on-site learning on Monday 21 March, this will be reviewed and communicated to whānau by Thursday 17 March.

If your tamaiti is under the age of 14 and you are unable to find supervision for them as you need to work please notify Whaea Shar on 0275274360 as soon as possible, we will make arrangements for them to be supervised at Kura.

Tau 1 - 6

Tau 1 - 6 will remain open on Monday 7 March, however we will continue to review this daily. There are already a number of younger tamariki isolating due to being household contacts, so numbers in each learning space will be much smaller than normal. We ask that whānau of this age group be prepared to keep tamariki at home for online learning should staffing levels mean we can no longer keep kura open safely.

Tau 1 - 6 tamariki that are isolating at home will move into online learning and/or utilise their learning packs from Wednesday 9 March. Tamariki should have received or had whānau collect their devices before then.

COVID Hub at Kura

Te Uru Kahikatea has been set up as a COVID hub for kura. We will use this space for tamariki that are feeling unwell. We have a limited number of RATs, and can test tamariki that present unwell at kura but will not test unless you are contacted directly and give us permission to do so.

Please stay in your vehicles when bringing tamariki into Kura, if you wish to kōrero with kaimahi please make an appointment. Hui will only be held online until further notice.

Can you help whānau in isolation? Do you need help in isolation?

We have a number of whānau who are isolating, and may need support with picking up and delivery of various items. If you are available to tautoko please complete this form:

Are you at home isolating and need a hand picking up any shopping, prescriptions, RAT test orders, kura learning packs or anything like that? If you do, you can complete the form below and we will match you with someone who can tautoko:

As COVID moves through our kura hāpori we will continue to monitor day to day how best to meet the needs of tamariki and kaiako safely. Please ensure you are checking the kura pānui (sent via Kura App, Email, and Facebook) as things can change quickly.

Please continue to be vigilant with hygiene practices, mask wearing, and ventilating rooms. Let us know if someone in your household becomes unwell.

Updating Information

Early next week we will have Manaaki Packs for whānau to collect from Kura. Should we need to deliver (as you are isolating and have no way to have them collected) we need to ensure that we have your correct address. Please complete the form below to help us with this.
