Big picture

Back to School Update

We hope you are all having a wonderful summer! The information below will be helpful to you as we begin to prepare for your child to return to school. Documents are also posted to the Virtual Backpack.

Back to School Information:

There will not be a back to school mailing. All information will be communicated through newsletters, posts to the Virtual Backpack, and the Connect-Ed system.

New Student Open House:

During the summer, we will provide an opportunity for new students and incoming sixth grade students to come into Murray Avenue before the first day of school. On Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 6:30-8:30 pm, the school will be open for self-guided tours. Principals and counselors will be available to answer questions, and students will be able to practice opening a locker. There will be a presentation for parents of new students and/or incoming sixth grade students at 6:30 pm. This is a repeat of the Grade 5 Parent Informational Meeting that was held on May 30th at Murray Avenue. Our school counselors and student ambassadors will be doing orientation activities with our new students during the parent presentation this evening.

Home Access Center:

The Home Access Center will open on August 28th. Student schedules will not be mailed. If you do not know your password to access the system, please contact the office. It is the same password that families had at Pine Road. Please update your demographic information in the Home Access Center after it opens. Directions for this are located in the Virtual Backpack.

Back to School Night for MA:

Back to School Night for MA will be the second day of school, Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Please mark your calendars for this important night.

Information for 2019-2020 Athletics:

Murray Avenue Fall Sports are scheduled to start on Monday, September 9th. This year, four sports will be offered at Murray Avenue, including Middle School Cross Country for the first time.

It is important that you register your student athlete through the FamilyID portal prior to the start of the season. If the forms are not filled out prior to Saturday 9/7, there is a risk that they will not be approved. Also, please note that all physicals must be dated after 6/1/2019 or by PIAA rule we cannot accept the form.

All information for FamilyID can be found at the following link:

We are still looking for coaches at the middle school level. We are in need of a Boys Soccer Head Coach and Assistant Coach, as well as a girls assistant coach. If you are interested or know anyone interested in helping coach the teams, please email Matt Heiland at

New to Murray Avenue This Year - Cross Country Club

Starting this fall, there will be a great opportunity for students to get involved in a new sport. Former Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Lower Moreland High School, Mrs. Mary Esposito, will be kick-starting the Murray Avenue Cross Country Club! This club is open to all Murray Avenue students. No previous experience is required. All students will need is a good pair of running sneakers and a positive attitude! Anyone interested in participating in this club should register with FamilyID on the Lower Moreland Athletics website, just like they would for any other sport. For more information about this new club, please contact Coach Esposito at
