Counseling Small Group Parent Referrals
As part of our school's developmental counseling program students are sometimes invited to be part of small group counseling experience. This semester we will be doing a small group curriculum called MINDSET MATTERS. The purpose of the group will be to help students explore different ways of thinking and how determination and positive thinking lead to better results. Each small group will meet once a week for thirty minutes for approximately eight weeks. If you would like for your child to participate in group with our school counselor, Ms. Hull, please fill out the google form below.

What is FMNV? How does it effect our school? Why is there no Valentine's Day party?
As you know, public schools are governed by extensive laws and policies. One of the most misunderstood laws deals with Food of Minimal Nutritional Value, or FMNV. This policy regulates our ability to provide specific types of food to students and details when exceptions may occur. Below are some of the points included in the FMNV Policy. Further information can be found at http://www.squaremeals.org/
All Texas public schools participating in the National School Lunch Program must comply with the nutrition policies outlined in the Texas Public School Nutrition Policy. This policy, which is enforced by the Texas Department of Agriculture, contains regulations and guidelines dealing with Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNV), nutrition standards, portion sizes, and competitive foods and snacks for all public school grade levels.
In accordance with Texas Public School Nutrition Policy guidelines, the availability of Foods of Minimally Nutritious Value (FMNVs) in public schools is regulated or prohibited according to the following schedule:
Elementary and Intermediate schools
FMNVs are not allowed at any time during the school day, except as allowed for under certain exemptions in the TDA policy.
Students may be given FMNV, candy items or other restricted foods during the school day on up to three different events each school year.
The three events that Ridgeview has selected to be FMNV-free days are Winter Parties, Field Day, and End of Year Parties.
Valentine's Day
While we have not elected to included Valentine's Day as one of our exemption days, we do continue to recognize the holiday through a card exchange. Students are able to bring Valentine cards for their classmates, but no food can be served.
