Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Holiday "Our Friend, Martin"
Please take a moment to remember one of our countries great leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King stood for social justice as well as the love and liberation for all mankind.
I have posted the entire movie "Our Friend Martin" for you to share with your students when you find the time!
Spelling Bee
The Elms Spelling Bee is quickly approaching. It will be held on Wednesday January 28th in the Music Room. Please refer to the schedule below for grades and times:
- 4th Grade - 1:00 - 1:45 pm
- 5th Grade - 1:45 - 2:30 pm
- 6th Grade - 2:30 - 3:16 pm
There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner as a result of the building spelling bee. The district-wide spelling bee will commence on February 4 at the Flushing High School Auditorium.
Once the names of the students who are competing in the building bee are submitted to the office, a letter will be sent home inviting the to attend the Elms Elementary School Spelling Bee.

Teacher Evaluations
On January 22nd all the first observations for all teacher evaluations are due. I am happy to announce that we are in good shape!
If you have not completed you Post-Observation Conference, please do so before Friday January 22nd.
Between January 26th and May 2nd, your second observation must be conducted. If you have any questions about the evaluation process, do not hesitate to stop in and see me!
Elms First Annual Lock-In
Elms First Annual Lock-In will be held on Friday January 22nd from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Mrs. Spence is organizing this event with a committee of teachers and parents. If you would like to volunteer that night to run a station, please let Mrs. Spence or Becky Bill know immediately.
Kudos to Mrs. Spence for chairing this event and dedicating her time and effort towards making our First Lock-In a success!
