Government
The government type is a monarchy with a executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The leader of the government is king SALMAN bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud. The executive branch leader is crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister MUHAMMAD BIN NAYIF bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud. The leader of the legislative branch is the unicameral Consultative Council or Majlis al-Shura. The judicial branch is lead by the high court chief and chiefs. The people of Saudi Arabia have a law with very severe punishments (with driving violations the only one with a fine) that can result in jailing, deportation, lashing, amputation, and execution.

Saudi Arabia is an oil based economy that controls 16% of the worlds oil reserves. The country is encouraging the growth of the private sector in order to diversify its economy and to employ more Saudi nationals. The countries GPD is $665.5 billion and is $54,600. The currency is Riyals. The percentage of population living below poverty is 12.7% (est 2013). The top imports are machinery and equipment, foodstuffs, chemicals, motor vehicles, textiles and the top exports are petroleum and petroleum products 90%. The population living below poverty was considered the tenth lowest poverty rate in 2013 likely due to the majority of jobs and the country having one of the highest oil reserves.

is a cultural and heritage Festival held in Jenadriyah (or Janadriyah) near Riyadh in Saudi Arabia each year, lasting for two weeks.
The Ardha
Dancing is popular among Saudis. The countries national dance is the men’s sword dance known as the ardha. This dance is an ancient tradition in the Najd (the countries central region).
Most popular sport in Saudi Arabia
Horse racing is one of the most popular sports in Saudi Arabia. The famous Arabian horse is often used in these races and has a bloodline that dates back thousands of years.

Motorists in Saudi Arabia have invented a perilous but exciting new driving sport called Sidewalk Skiing, which involves balancing a car on its side while the car is in motion.( also yes this is real)
coffee fact
Arabs call coffee gahwa, a word that later became Arabic for ‘that which prevents sleep.’ The first coffee shops were probably those which opened in Mecca around the mid-15th to -16th century. Curiously, under strict interpretation of Islam, coffee is prohibited as it is a stimulant, and Saudis of rigid orthodoxy will not drink it. However, the majority of the population does drink coffee and may, as an additional vice, even chew coffee beans while at prayer in the mosque.
