Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to our Week 7 newsletter.
Reconciliation Week
At James Erskine Public School, we recognise and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage as a proud part of our shared Australian identity.
To acknowledge Reconciliation Week, we formally opened our Yarning Circle. Sharing our First Nation Peoples' culture and heritage with the wider school community has been the driving motivation around the design of our newest educational space that we are very proud of. The ceremony was exceptionally moving and I hope that our video does it justice.
I am very excited to inform our school community that Go Bananas, our onsite OSCH will be operational as of Monday the 7th June. Please find enrolment information attached.
Welcome Ms. Kingi
I'd also like to inform you that I will be taking leave as of this Thursday 3rd June - Friday 18th June. Following an Expression of Interest Process, Ms. Kingi, Deputy Principal, Oxley Park Public School has been asked by Mr Miezis our Director of Educational Leadership to relieve for me as principal whilst I am on leave.
Ms. Kingi is an experienced educator and leader who understands the importance of strategic school improvement. Most recently, Ms. Kingi relieved as principal at Oxley Park Public School (Term One 2021) where she worked with executives and staff to develop the school's Strategic Improvement Plan. I know that you will welcome her to our great JEPS community.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Kind regards,
Yvonne Quinlan
Principal
Spotlight on Learning
At JEPS, we develop our students emotionally and socially. Play is important as it enables our students to use their creativity while developing their imagination as well as their physical, cognitive and emotional strength. Our students love our sensory garden and passive play areas. A playtime favourite for our students is to develop their teamwork skills though oval games.
Year 6 Update
Our Year 6 excursion to Canberra and the snow is fast approaching. Please find attached a list of what our students need to bring to camp, Monday 26th July – Wednesday 28th July 2021. Just a reminder to parents that the full payment for camp is due this Friday the 4th June.
Year 6 Jackets
We are currently working with the retail company to ensure the delivery of our special Year 6 jackets. The order has been delayed because of COVID. Please contact the office should you wish a refund.
P&C News
We are very much looking forward to our next P&C meeting on Wednesday 16th June at 6:30 pm. Our meeting will be held in Mrs Halfpenny's classroom, S2H.
