Week 2 of E-learning Sophomores:
I hope this email finds you in great and healthy spirit. As you all move forward in your 2nd week of E-Learning, hopefully, you have been able to create yourself a routine. Your daily routine should include: a set start time, 2-3 hours of school work (work in self paced breaks), breaks for nutrition, active breaks (outdoor time with movements) and projected end time. You could follow this link Sample Schedule/planner idea for an example of a daily schedule. Reminder, if you need any support of any kind please do not hesitate to reach out. A+ Update
Students currently enrolled in Cadet Teaching, PE Mentor, or Culinary Mentor: you will still earn your 50 hours through those courses.
The Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) issued guidance regarding accommodations for 2020 high school seniors impacted by school closures as a result of the COVID-19 virus. These accommodations only apply to the 2020 seniors.
1. Algebra I EOC Requirement. This requirement is waived for all 2020 high school seniors, including those who have already taken the exam but did not meet the requirement as well as those who have not yet taken the exam. Waiver of this requirement also exempts the 2020 seniors from having to meet the ACT math subscore/high school GPA alternative.
2. Grade Point Average. To be eligible for the A+ Scholarship, students must graduate from high school with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. Since school closures may negatively impact seniors’ spring 2020 GPA and thus the cumulative GPA at graduation, 2020 seniors who have a 2.5 cumulative grade point average at the end of either the fall 2019 or spring 2020 semesters will be eligible.
3. 50 Hours of Unpaid Tutoring/Mentoring. The A+ Scholarship requires students to complete 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring. For the 2020 seniors, the number of tutoring/mentoring hours has been reduced temporarily to 25 to accommodate those students who are unable to complete 50 hours prior to high school graduation.
Please log into IC and check your hours. Please email Ms. Bluestein if you have any questions or concerns about your eligibility for the A+ program.
Transcript Request/Release
Along with this form, please submit a formal request in writing to Stephanie Bluestein at sbluestein@parkwayschools.net. In this request, please state the reason why you are requesting a transcript and where it needs to be sent.
*If you are requesting a transcript for college admissions, this must be requested via Naviance.
Testing Updates
The April 7th ACT was scheduled as the District ACT test for juniors. Parkway is currently exploring whether there are alternate testing options. At this time we do not have any details. Parkway juniors are not automatically registered for the June 13th test.
April 4th was a National ACT testing date (a weekend test that you register online for). ACT has cancelled this test date and is offering the scheduled June 13th ACT for the students who had registered to take this ACT through ACT directly. Students rescheduled for June are only the students who had registered on their own to take the Saturday, April 4th national ACT.
SAT — The SAT for May 2 has been canceled. Makeup exams for the March SAT are also canceled. Registered students will receive refunds. Click here for the latest updates.
AP Exams — College Board has decided that 2020 AP exams will be online and taken at home. AP exams will only cover content that most students and teachers covered in class by early March. Each student will decide between two different exam administrations. This will allow students to decide when they are ready to test within the exam window. The full exam schedule will be made available by April 3, 2020. Updates can be found on the College Board Website.

When creating a daily routine, be sure to schedule time each day to work on classwork. This can help reduce stress by breaking down your tasks into smaller chunks. Additionally, make sure to set aside time each day for self-care. Some examples of self-care activities include:
- Take regular breaks
- Make time to exercise
- Keep to a regular sleep schedule
- Limit distractions when possible (turn off social media notifications or take breaks from technology, for example)
- Set daily and weekly goals
- Make time to socialize and connect with others, even if it is virtually
*For an example of a daily schedule, go to the first link posted above and check out the 2nd tab of the document.
