What We Are Learning

Our School Improvement Goal at Schofield Elementary is to make sure that 80% or more of our students are proficient with Missouri Learning Standards for math and literacy. Here is what we will be learning this week to work toward this goal.

READING - We will finish practicing drawing conclusions based on evidence in the text and practicing station expectations. (TEST FRIDAY)

MATH - We will begin adding and subtracting up to 1 million.

My homework pages will be coming home in your child's home/school folder throughout the week. If these aren't getting home, please let me know asap. I strongly encourage your child to work on these at home every night that we have them. It's a great way to practice their math at home. It gives them an opportunity to show you what they are learning about along with practicing. I give a little incentive to my kiddos if they bring all of their homeworks from the unit back. Thanks for your help with this!

WRITING - We will continue building writing stamina and practice the parts of a narrative.

SCIENCE/S.S. - We will begin learning about the colonization of the United States.

The 7 Habits

Students are reviewing all 7 habits. We will also begin putting our leadership binders together.

Parent Involvement

Schofield has many opportunities for families to volunteer and be involved during the school day. If you are interested in the below parent involvement opportunities, please contact Ms. Markie Bravestone, Schofield’s Assistant Principal, at

  • Watch D.O.G.S. Dads

    • Dads spend the day mentoring students and helping around the school.

  • Super M.O.M.S.

    • Greet students at the beginning of the day

    • Help with breakfast of lunch

    • Help in the art room or library

    • Read to your lifelong learner’s class

In addition to the above opportunities during the school day, parents can attend PTO Meetings, assemblies, special building events and serve on the Parent Lighthouse Team. Communication about these events are on Schofield’s Facebook page and in monthly building newsletters.

We celebrated earning 50 tiger paws on Thursday with extra recess! We are now working toward 100. We currently have 74.

Attendance Goals

Schofield's proportional attendance rate for the month so far is 94.47%. Remember our building level goal is to have a proportional attendance rate of more than 95%.

Each day that we have 100% attendance in our classroom we will place one letter of the word ATTENDANCE on the board. When we complete the word we will celebrate as a class!

As always, thanks for your help in making sure students get to school each day!

Counselor's Corner

Ms. Fenske came into the classroom this week. A counseling newsletter should have come home, introducing herself to you. Students also decorated a portfolio, information will be added to the portfolio and it will come home at the end of the year. They also played a game called "The Maze". Please ask your student about it, they had a great time.

Information will come home each time our class has Classroom Guidance. She is looking forward to a GREAT year!

Your student will be bringing home a portfolio, at the end of the year, showing you EVERYTHING we did in 4th Grade.
