Otsego Local Schools Family Night
Otsego Schools would like to announce our 1st ever “family night” on Monday, November 9th. The goal of Family Night is to encourage families to take the evening to focus on each other and spend time together as a family in whatever way works for your family. There will be NO homework, assignments or tests the next day. There will also be NO athletic practices or any other extra-curricular activities on family night. We hope you can take advantage of this night and celebrate being a family!
Spending time with your family is a great investment, an investment that doesn’t take a lot of money. It just takes time and commitment. Our lives are all extremely busy and fast paced. We all need reminded from time to time how important spending quality time with your family is. Research shows that the benefits of family time on a regular basis can increase academic performance, decrease behavioral problems, decrease violence, and decreases the chances of drug abuse.
A few ideas to get you started thinking about your evening together.
Games: Play your favorite family board game or card game
Dinner: Plan a meal together and cook together
Memories: Look through old photos and family videos
Get Creative: Create an art project, crafts, or build something as a family
Get Fit: If the weather is nice, go for a long walk in a park as a family
We are also working with area businesses to offer discounts at local restaurants, movie theaters, and other family fun activities. We will provide more details on these locations later this month.
We will continue to provide information on Otsego Family Night, as we get closer to the day. If at all possible, please clear your calendar on November 9th and spend time with family!
D.A.R.E. Movie Night
D.A.R.E. Movie Night is scheduled for Wednesday October 28th from 5:30-9:00pm in the Elementary Commons. This event is open to 5th graders only. Please see the flyer for more information.

· Find out about events and activities
· Contact teachers, staff and administration
· Access school menus, the online gradebook system and more

UNITED WAY AND BGSU PRE-KINDERGARTEN READINESS AND AWARENESS SURVEY
The United Way is partnering with students from BGSU to aid student learning through actively engaging the community on several levels. The group is partnering with the United Way to conduct a survey that will ultimately aid kindergarten readiness in Wood County. The survey’s aim is to understand what services residents of Wood County use to prepare students for Kindergarten (daycare, in-home, pre-school etc.). This data will be used to both assess how aware residents are of existing resources as well as what they indicate to be barriers to ensuring their children’s kindergarten readiness. Please take a few moments to fill out this survey and help our county better prepare our students for kindergarten.

REMINDERS
SAVE ALUMINUM CAN TABS
Please help our students by collecting tabs from aluminum cans. Each tab is easy to remove and can be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The tabs help fund various projects for Ronald McDonald Houses and its visitors. Send the tabs in a bag to the school and our students will do the rest!
SAVE BOX TOPS AND CAMPBELLS SOUP LABELS
You can help the school earn money for supplies by collecting Box Tops and Campbells labels from soup, juices and snacks. Our PTO collects and counts them and puts the money straight back into the school.
