Rocket Register
April 2016
Boosterthon Update
Robison Parents,
Thank you so much for participating in this year’s Rockets Fun Run at Robison Elementary! After our 2nd Count, we have collected 83% of what was pledged. That is great, but there is still over $9,049.83 in outstanding pledges.
Please help us reach our 100% collection goal! The next due date is April 7th. Checks can be written to the Robison PTO. Pledges can be turned into your student’s teacher or into the front office. Also, sponsors are able to pay online if an email address was entered at the time of the pledge.

Writing Gallery
If you plan on visiting Robison in the next few weeks, please stop by the Writing Gallery in the front hall. These authors' papers will be on display: Brayden Brewer, Naomi Obas, Bethany Fisher, Bryce Noles, Sarah Fenney, Skye P. Gallien, Brayden Payne, Stacee Lucas, Darien Rogers, Ashton Mallet, Trace Gonzales, Piper Kluge, Hannah Dang, Breanna Botello, Bella Bickham, and Abby Bergeron .
We know that you will enjoy reading their stories!
Credit by Exam
Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor.
New District Facility Near Robison
If you are wondering what is going on behind that blue fence on the corner of Spring Cypress Road and Woods-Spillane Blvd (across Woods-Spillane from the baseball field), a
new Satellite Cold Food Warehouse is being constructed. This warehouse will be a 22,000 square foot building housing a large freezer for Food Services use.
It should be complete around Thanksgiving 2016. Due to the close proximity to Robison, the contractor has constructed a 6’ tall chainlink screen fence to surround the site prior to any other work taking place. Full badging requirements were imposed from day 1, so no contractor will be onsite without having gone through the badging process as required by SB9.

PBIS News
Congratulations to FIRST grade for winning the March Madness PBIS competition. This group of girls and boys earned the most "gold coins" and celebrated today with a dance party at the end of the day.
This month the competition is called "April Showers".
Blast behavior is in the air at Robison Elementary. During the month of April, raindrops will be falling. Each time a student is caught using their blast behavior, they will receive a raindrop. The raindrops will be beautifully displayed in the front hall under umbrellas. Once again, a fabulous display to show how our students follow BLAST behavior.

Inventors Day
We are gearing up for 3rd Grade Inventors Day on Friday, April 22nd!! What a fun way to teach our 3rd Graders about inventors and inventions that have shaped our world. We need lots of volunteers to make this fun event a success for our students!
3rd Grade parents, contact me at tenchis18@sbcglobal.net if you would like to be a part of this exciting day!
Inventors Day is on April 22nd for our third graders! On this day, the third grade students will be learning about inventors and inventions. They will rotate through fun stations like Ben Franklin, Medical Advances, Agriculture Advances, Jeopardy, Invention Dimension, and work on an assembly line! The students are welcome to come dressed in the inventor/scientist theme. They can dress as their favorite inventor or simply wear a lab coat and/or safety goggles that day. This goes for parent volunteers also! Lab coats may be found online. Another option may be to wear a parents’ long sleeve white button down shirt. Please make sure the lab coat is not so long that it is a safety hazard while walking around that day! Please remember that dressing up for Inventors Day is OPTIONAL – and all costumes must comply with the school dress code policy.
We will not have any “Food Stations” on this day, so please send a snack with your child like normal that day.
We still need volunteers! If you are interested in helping, please return the volunteer slip below in your child’s back pack. It’s going to be a fun filled day! We regret that we are unable to accommodate parents as guests (not volunteering at a station) on this day. If you have any questions, please contact Hortensia Vega 713-516-7993 or tenchis18@sbcglobal.net. Thank you!
