Family Religious Education Program

2022-23 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Big picture

Welcome back to FREP!

This year marks the 17th year for the Catholic Community of Flint FREP Program. As many know, the FREP program is one of the most successful unique religious education programs of its kind in the Diocese of Lansing.

As we are all aware, as stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, parents are the first and most important teachers of the faith with their children.

  • To assist parents and families, students attend FREP on the first Sunday of each month to be inspired with a kick-off of the theme during class about each spiritually driven monthly theme.
  • Parents are expected to guide their children through the month-long designated lessons to be completed each week until the next FREP meeting.
  • If necessary later, the FREP Course Website will continue to provide updates to guide families.

Again this year, we will continue using the FREP website for Catechists and Parents to use.

Information, activities, directions and ideas will be posted by each instructor to assist parents with guiding, interacting and teaching their children about the Catholic Faith.

From The Catechism of the Catholic Church...

CCC 2685 - The Christian Family is the first place of education in prayer. Based on the

sacrament of marriage, the family is the “domestic church” where God’s children learn to pray

“as the Church” and to persevere in prayer. For young children in particular, daily family prayer is the first witness of the Church’s living memory as awakened patiently by the Holy Spirit.
