Football Games Recap
7th Grade:
7B- The 7th grade B team Tigers played hard last night from the opening kickoff, but could not put together any offensive drives early in the game. In the 3rd quarter the Tigers got on the board with a 45 yard pass from Tyler Thomas to Jack Mavis. The defense gave up a few big plays, but overall, played much better in their 3rd game of the season. The Tigers lost 31-7.
7A- The 7th grade A team Tigers had the most complete game of their season. The Tigers dominated all three phases of the game. David McCallum had 2 touchdowns on the ground and Oakley Torres had one through the air. The Tiger defense shut out Lake Belton with many hard hits lead by Adrian Hang, Jordan Nash, Cason Morton, Alex Carpenter and a swarm of others. The Tigers never let up on Lake Belton MS and won 22-0.
The 7th grade Tigers will be back in action next week against Cove Lee at Home.
8th Grade
The 8th Grade B-Team played against a tough Lake Belton team. The offense struggled all night to get the ball moving upfield, but the Tigers never quit. A couple good rushes were made by Jack Camboia and Anthony Anderson. The Tigers gave up a few big plays on defense but had big hits all game lead by Graham Chambley. They lost 25-0.
The 8th grade A-Team played hard all night but just made too many mistakes. Lake Belton’s offense was suffocated by the Tiger defense all night. Lake Belton only had two big plays that gave them a 14-2 halftime lead. The Tigers came out strong in the second half with a strong drive lead by Benjamin Thompson, Billy Young and capped off with a touchdown by Jaden Lopez. The defense was lead by Jahari James, Angel Zarate and Hunter Hurst. The Tigers had a chance to win at the end of the game but came up short and lost 14-10

Great job Lady Tigers!
CROSS COUNTRY
Our BMS cross country team ran at the SBMS invitational this past Wednesday. There were about 400 runners that attended the meet. Despite the heat, our Tigers ran the 2 mile course with success, many of them improving their 2 mile time. Special shout out to Lily Gallegos for placing 3rd in 8th girls and Wyatt Nelson 6th in 7th boys despite the tough competition. Great job BMS Cross Country!

Our campus and district administrators will be proactive in providing support and resources in a way that attendance does not need to become an issue for any student or parent. A wealth of information can be found throughout this webpage, in our Student & Parent Handbook, and through any of our campus administrators or attendance staff.
We are happy to offer support to parents in their roles as education partners. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s administration or school attendance clerk for additional assistance. We thank you for your continued support in this partnership.

Loop 121, Lake Road, and Sparta Road Construction Update:
Belton ISD, the Belton Police Department, and TxDOT are committed to ensuring student safety as the school year begins on August 17. With construction zones on Loop 121, Lake Road and Sparta Road, these measures will be taken to keep students safe:
- The Belton Police Department will manage the crosswalks at Lake Road and Loop 121 in front of Belton High School and at Loop 121 and Sparta Road. On school days, police officers will be on-site from 7-9 a.m. and 2:30-5 p.m. until crosswalk signals can be reinstalled.
- TxDOT will install signage on Lake Road and Loop 121 to inform drivers of the upcoming crosswalks.
- Designated walking paths will be created with barriers along Loop 121.
Belton High School, Belton Middle School, and Sparta Elementary have each revised arrival and dismissal procedures to account for the construction. These plans include partnerships with the Belton Police Department. Each campus will communicate its specific plan to its families.
Here’s how parents and other drivers can help make the construction zone safer for students:
- Follow all traffic laws (including hands-free cell phone use), observe traffic signs and officer directions, and be very aware of your surroundings.
- Encourage student drivers to follow these same safety practices.
- Remind your child to only use the designated crosswalks.
- Only drop off and pick up your student at the school’s designated locations. It is not safe to park at nearby businesses and have your student cross Loop 121.
- Allow extra time in your schedule for getting through the construction zone safely.
The Loop 121 construction project is currently scheduled to take two years. We will provide more updates on progress and safety measures as we have them. Thank you for being patient and understanding as we work to safely move traffic and pedestrians through each campus and the construction zones each day.
SAFETY is our #1 PRIORITY!

- Fights
- Vapes
There are school discipline consequences up to and including DAEP (District Alternative School), a ticket issued by Belton Police Department, and a municipal court appearance in front of a judge. Legal consequences may also result in a fine.

BMS DRESS CODE for STUDENTS
The board adopted a dress code policy for 2021-2022, which can be found in the BISD Parent and Student Handbook. Tiered discipline consequences will be assigned to the student for dress code violations.
Update on COVID-19
Belton ISD will remain in Scenario 1 of our COVID-19 Response Plan as we start the 2022-2023 school year. Students and staff are still expected to self-screen for symptoms. The main change in protocol that families should note is that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 will only be excluded from school or work for five days from the positive test or start of symptoms. We will continue to notify close contacts but will not send campus or classroom notifications. Learn more at www.bisd.net/covid.
Handle with Care
If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. I understand that you are not always able to share details and that’s okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please email your student’s counselor “Handle with Care”. Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let me know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help during the day.
Sincerely,
Your BMS Counselors

Megan Cannon (M-Z)
