Completing the FAFSA Webinar for Senior Academy Credit
This Saturday, roll out of bed, stay in your pajamas, BUT plan to join us for the webinar, “CSA #15C Completing the FAFSA,” to learn more about Financial Aid!
Whether or not you have already completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), we’ll be covering information relevant to all students!
This is a great time to ask any questions you might have in regards to the financial aid process or types of financial aid.

CSA #20 Scholarship Labs: November 12
Crosby Scholars advisors will be on hand for a Scholarship Lab to guide students in the scholarship process. Whether you have already begun your scholarship search, or don't know where to start, advisors will provide one-to-one guidance with paper work, search engines and helpful hints on how to find the best scholarship for you.
During the scholarship lab, we will work on scholarship searches, paperwork, and essays. Come prepared to begin the search for funding your college experience!

CSA #17 Spanish FAFSA Lab/Laborario/Taller de FAFSA: November 12
Crosby Scholars staff and volunteers will be available to assist you in starting, working on, and completing your FAFSA. All students and parents are welcome. We will have a representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) to assist Hispanic families who may prefer Spanish. (Tendremos una representante de la Fundación de Colegios de Carolina del Norte (CFNC) para ayudar a las familias hispanas que prefieren español.)

To successfully work on and complete your FAFSA you will need the following information. IMPORTANT: Students and families who do not show up with this information cannot receive assistance. The information is critical in completing the FAFSA.
- If already created, the FSA ID username and password for the student and ONE parent
- If the student/parent has not created an FSA ID, please bring the follow:
- Student social security number, birthdate, email address and phone number
- Parent(s) social security number, birthdate, email address and phone number
- Parent financial information
- 2017 Taxes
- 2017 W2
- Student financial information (if the student filed taxes please bring the following)

CSA #22 Listos Para el Exito! Como prepararse para la Universidad y una Carrera Profesional
Taller en Español
Fecha: lunes, 12 de noviembre
Horario: 6:00-7:00pm
Lugar: Edificio de Goodwill, 2701 University Parkway W-S
Los participantes (nacidos aquí o no) aprenderán como navegar el sistema de aplicaciones para ir al Colegio y/o Universidad y como recibir ayuda financiera.
Los talleres incluirán: como resolver los obstáculos y desafíos que enfrentan los estudiantes Latinos/Hispanos, con los beneficios DACA, y como prepararse para el ingreso y éxito en la Universidad, etc.
¿EFC, SAR, FAFSA, COA, CSS?
¿Se encuentra flotando en un mar de términos desconocidos y ahogándose en un océano de confusión sobre la ayuda financiera? Este taller explicará la terminología pertinente. Hablaremos de la solicitud FAFSA, como evaluar los costos de asistencia y las ofertas de ayuda financiera. Queremos ayudar a los estudiantes y sus familias a disfrutar de una navegación fluida a través de las aguas de ayuda financiera estudiantil.

Not sure where to start when looking for scholarships or grants? Try the following options to help narrow down your search and pinpoint scholarships that are right for you.
Crosby Scholars Outside Scholarship Database lists all outside scholarships that we are aware of. More opportunities will be added in January 2019.
Crosby Scholars Scholarship opportunities for Seniors will be available beginning January 1, 2019 in the Crosby Scholars Student Portal. We open at least 1 new scholarship per week, so check your Crosby Scholars Student Portal frequently and apply for as many as you can.
The application for Crosby Scholars Last Dollar Grant will become available in late April/Early May 2019.

CSS/FINANCIAL AID PROFILE
The College Board’s CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE® is an online application that collects information used by almost 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award financial aid from sources outside of the federal government.
North Carolina Colleges that REQUIRE CSS PROFILE are:
- Davidson College
- Duke University
- Elon University
- UNC Chapel Hill
- Wake Forest University
PROFILE applications can be accessed beginning October 1. You should complete the Fall 2019/Spring 2020 PROFILE®.
The PROFILE Application is customized for the student and his or her family following registration. It contains questions about the student's and parents' households, income, assets, and expenses. Applicants are provided with step-by-step instructions and a customized Pre-Application Worksheet. (student.collegeboard.org/css)
UNC School System FAFSA Priority Filing Deadlines
Make sure you know the institutional Financial Aid priority deadline for your school! Filing out and submitting your FAFSA by a school's Institutional priority deadline is the best way to ensure you will be considered for the most federal and state financial aid funds.
