Virtual Parenting Series: Screen Time and Use of Technology: Parenting in a Digital Era
District 47 will be hosting a four-part virtual parenting series for D47 parents and guardians starting Wednesday, December 7th at 7 p.m. This interactive presentation will take a look at the influence of technology on children's development, as well as ways we can empower our children to find balance while navigating the digital world. Parents will learn strategies to build closer connections with their children and help set healthy boundaries around their use of technology. Note: The Zoom link for the December 7th session will be posted by December 1, 2022 on the district website calendar.
8th Grade Informational Meeting for Dual Language Families

LMC Update
This month, we are spotlighting Veteran's Day and Native American Heritage Month! Our November contest is a Totem Pole decorating contest. Students can pick up information in the LMC about how to create their own totem pole and are encouraged to stop by and learn more about Native American culture.
Our Book Fair is quickly approaching. RBMS will be hosting a book fair through Anderson's Book Shops in-person and virtually from 11/21/22-11/30/22. Students will be able to preview the book fair with their ELA class the week before. Families, please visit the book fair when you attend Student-Led Conferences on Monday 11/21/22 or Tuesday 11/22/22. Books make GREAT gifts! We will have books available for all ages and all types of readers, and even some Legos! I hope to see you there! Please email Mrs. Brogan with any questions, jlbrogan@d47.org
6th Grade Term 2 Health Student Award
Congratulations are in order for these students! I am pleased to tell you that the following students earned the Health Student Award this term. To receive this award, all work must be turned in on time, earbuds/headphones brought to class, and Chromebooks charged daily. Students must also come to class on time and be kind, respectful, and polite.
Please congratulate these kiddos for being a great health student!
Recipients were given a certificate, a free individual pizza from Nick’s Pizza and Pub, an all staff email to their teachers, and a shout out in our daily announcements.

Salvation Army 8th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner
On Wednesday, November 23rd from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm community members are welcome to take home a full thanksgiving meal (there are no dine-in options). This will take place at the Salvation Army of McHenry County Crystal Lake Corps Community Center (290 West Crystal Lake Ave, Crystal Lake). For more information, click here.

Be Seen & Heard
Be Seen & Heard© is a sexual abuse awareness and prevention program provided to students under Erin’s Law. On December 6th, students will be watching the follow-up video presentation in their XLT. The option to opt-out is to contact the principal in writing/email.

Winter Weather!
Winter temps are upon us for the foreseeable future and students will be going outside for 15 minutes a day for their recess on most days. Please encourage your student to bring their coats, hats, and gloves so they can stay warm while enjoying some fresh air. We go outside up to zero degrees, real feel (wind chill). Should schools need to close due to inclement weather, District 47 students will be utilizing the emergency “snow day” in the school calendar. D47 Instant Alerts and Weather Notification.
