News You Can Use

Model Schools News

In case you do not already know, I am now the Director for Model Schools as well as School Library System and Arts in Education. I wanted to let everyone know that this is great news because there are many new opportunities for you as a result of this collaboration.

  1. What is Model Schools? It is a service that Questar III provides for districts in the area of instructional technology. Our Model Schools Specialist delivers professional development here at Questar III, but can also come to your district to deliver embedded PD. There are robotics and coding items that can be used in district and the Model Schools Specialist will work closely with teachers to use that technology in an efficient and useful way in the classroom. Of course, this includes the library as well. Software purchases that come with support can be made through Model Schools too.
  2. You have access to more professional learning opportunities and can see those by clicking here.
  3. There is also a newsletter that will be sent out periodically with information about new tech tools and updates to existing tools. You can see the most recent one here.
  4. And more...

If you are interested in learning more about what Model Schools can do please contact me.

NBC Learn Free Trial

One of the products we are considering adding to the Multimedia CoSer next year is NBC Learn. In order to see if there would be enough interest from districts to order this, I have secured a trial. The log in information is below. There is a short video below as well.

This is not a database and cannot be ordered as such, but it could be ordered as part of the package of streaming services in our Multimedia CoSer. This product would be included with the Enhanced Multi-Media Library which also includes CCC! Streaming, Learn360, and Soundzabound. I do not yet have a price for next year as we are just entering the budget season and adding NBC Learn would require us to adjust the price significantly. It is an amazing streaming service, but it does have a larger price tag.

Once you have had a chance to try this out please let me know if it is something your district would be interested in purchasing as part of the Enhanced Multimedia Service for next year. This will allow me to determine pricing. Thank you.

Google Forms are powerful. They can do quizzes, take poles, and gather information. They can also be used for Scavenger Hunts. If you were able to take one of my overview workshops on Scavenger Hunts and CYOA, this will be a deeper, form and look into all of the possibilities it can do for you. Model Schools - Google Chrome (Web) Extensions

Google Extensions like Screencastify and Screenast-O-Matic can bring support to English Language Learners, students struggling with a concept or teachers wanting to support a more flipped environment. If you are a language teacher, Special Education Teacher or any grade level teacher, these extensions can help you and your classroom or your communication with students, staff and even community members. We can even look at other similar apps that can make a difference with students and staff members.

Please note, each district may make their own decisions on these extensions regarding Ed Law 2D. These workshops are guides to these resources.
