11th grade students interested in applying to selective colleges are invited to attend. An admissions representative will be talking about applying to selective schools; the profile of a strong candidate, test optional pros/cons, essay, interview, resume, AP/CIS credit, scholarships and Q & A.

Parents of Seniors
On Thursday, November 8th Seniors had a “Financial Literacy” lesson during their Physics, AP Physics or Biology of MN class. The agenda for the lesson included learning about the Cost of College Attendance, Paying for College (FAFSA, Merit Based Aid, Need Based Aid, Other), Financial Aid Award Letters, and budgeting. Need Help Completing the FAFSA for College Financial Aid?
Each day Inver Hills Community College hosts free FAFSA virtual help with professional financial aid officers. You DO NOT need to attend Inver Hills or plan on attending. This is for seniors who are applying for financial aid for college next year. Information about the Inver Hills FAFSA assistance and other free help options can be found HERE.
Online Health, PE or English Elective Credit through EmpowerU
EmpowerU is a proven, data-driven program that provides students with the daily skills and personalized support they need to become confident, self-directed learners that can thrive in the face of adversity and challenges. The founders spent three-years developing a bold new approach, weaving together evidence-based strategies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a wellness focus with therapeutic coaching methodology. EmpowerU allows high school students to earn discretionary elective credit through site-licensed schools. Students could schedule a study hall during the day to work on this class during T2 or T3.

PAID Youth Advisory Council- Ecigarette Prevention
The Statewide Youth Advisory Council is being formed to bring youth voices to the state’s new Youth Ecigarette Prevention and Cessation Initiative. The 2021 Minnesota Legislature appropriated funds for the Minnesota Department of Health to administer a new initiative to address youth e-cigarette and other commercial tobacco product use and cessation. The overall goal of this initiative is to reduce youth ecigarette and commercial tobacco use in Minnesota by 25% by 2026.

Join in this metrowide celebration of all things #TeenLit. Attend virtual events featuring popular young adult authors. Connect with other teens in person to explore comics, spoken word, screenwriting and more. Registration required for each event. Geared for youth ages 12–18.

University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Eagan Event
Students will first watch a brief Admissions presentation, then they will have plenty of time to chat with experts about financial aid, housing, applying and more. Plus, attendees will be entered for a chance to win a $2,000 UWEC scholarship*, which will be raffled at the end of the evening.

Inver Hills Community College Open House
On the evening of Wednesday, November 16th, we’ll be hosting our annual Fall Open House on campus. More info about the event is found at our Open House website HERE. Students who attend the event will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship that can be used in the Spring, Summer, or Fall 2023 semester. We will also provide attendees with information about how to apply for FREE, as well as have light snacks available.
College/Military Visits
The admission representatives that visit Eagan high school are the same people that review college applications. EHS College visits will begin starting the week of September 13th. We already have 31 colleges signed up for this month!!
Students can view these visits by logging into their Naviance Student account. Students should register on Naviance for both virtual AND/OR in person college visits. The registration in Naviance is the pass to leave class. If registering for a virtual visit during the school day, students should bring their iPad and earbuds to the counseling office to log-on for the visit. College visits are added daily, so students are encouraged to log into Naviance to see updates.
