Message from Ms. Barkley, Coordinator of Early Learning
Dear ELC Families,
Our kindergarten bound students that will be attending Oakland and W.C. Petty next school year will be going on their school tour this week. Students attending Oakland will be visiting on Monday, May 1st and students attending W.C. Petty will be visiting on Tuesday, May 2nd.
On Monday, May 8th, we are hosting our Family STEAM Day from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Please complete the form below to reserve your spot. If a parent/guardian is not able to attend, we welcome other family members/caregivers to attend with your preschooler.
On Tuesday, May 9th, John Bray, the author of The End, will be visiting the ELC. The students will listen to the author read the book and participate in an activity. Each student will also receive a copy of the book to enjoy at home. You can also visit our story walk of the book The End that will be displayed in the front of our school.
Our pre-school music concert is at Hillcrest Elementary School on May 17th at 6:00 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM and students will meet their teachers in the multipurpose room to line up by class at 5:45 PM. Students should stay with their parents in the gym until they are called to get in place. After the concert, students will return to the multipurpose room where
1 adult/parent can pick up their child.
To wrap up the end of the school year, our student activities committee has planned a Touch a Truck event and a field trip to Hastings Park. The Touch a Truck event will take place in the large parking lot behind the Antioch Public Library on May 16th. The students and staff will walk through the field in the back of the Early Learning Center and will get to see and engage with different trucks and vehicles found in the community such as a firetruck, ambulance, police car, and ComEd truck. Our Hastings Park Field Trip will take place on May 23d. Our transportation department will be driving the students and staff to the park where we will explore one of the trails, engage with nature, play at the playground, and have a snack.
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that I will not be returning as the building administrator for the Early Learning Center next school year. It has been a pleasure working with the staff and families and serving the youngest learners of Antioch CCSD34. This was an extremely difficult decision, however, between now and the end of June, I will be working with our district administration to ensure a successful transition for the next building administrator. Thank you for an incredible 4 years and for your continued support of your child's learning and of our early learning programs.
Sincerely,
Ms. Barkley
