Mayor Canose's Update
June 12, 2020
Work Begins to Open Bernardsville Pool
After receiving the okay from Governor Murphy to open municipal pools, the Recreation Director and Committee began the hard work required to comply with the social distancing guidelines. Contractors have been authorized to start the opening process, which is estimated to take three weeks to complete. Enrollment will open up on Monday, so be sure to sign up! Check the Borough website for details. And many thanks to Neil Mastrobuono and the Recreation Committee for their commitment to our community.
Farmers Market to Continue at Pool Parking Lot
Because of all the positive feedback from the farmers and the shoppers, the Farmers' Market will remain at the Bernardsville Pool parking lot for the next three weeks. The larger area provides better social distancing and room for more farmers. Tomorrow, the Market will feature its "house" band, PB&J, to serenade folks while they shop. Made up of three Bernardsville residents, PB&J musicians include Phil Kennedy-Grant, Bill Skerratt and Joe DiNorcia.
Outside Dining and Inside Shopping to Start on Monday!
Effective Monday, June 15, our local restaurants will be able to provide outside dining. To expedite the approval process, the Borough Council created a one-page application form, so expect to see some creative dining opportunities! We've also applied to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for permission to close Route 202 on Friday evenings just past Claremont Road, up to Mt. Airy Road to allow for more tables and to create a public space for sales and entertainment. Hopefully, they'll approve it!
Also on Monday, stores will be able to open their doors for customers under the social distancing guidelines. (Remember to wear your mask.) We all want our downtown businesses to succeed, so please shop and dine local!
