Family Time - Gratitude Journal

One of our character traits for the month is gratitude. Gratitude is one of many positive emotions. According to Nemours Children's Health, "gratitude is about focusing on what is good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. Gratitude is pausing to appreciate the things we often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, water, friends, family, even computer access. It's taking a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are when something good happens---whether it is a small thing or a big thing."

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT: Family gratitude journals are a simple and easy way to bring the family together. Simply place a journal and a pen in a central location in the house, accessible to all members of the family. Challenge everyone in the household to write one entry per day in the journal. Celebrate even the smallest gestures of gratitude. This is an amazing way to introduce your children to thankfulness in a fun, creative way. It allows an avenue for your family to express joy, and it establishes a health habit of focusing on the positive. Make the adventure your own . . .decorate your journal, draw pictures to illustrate your entries . . . the possibilities are endless.
