Tidbits From the Teacher
Woo Hoo!
You made it through the first week of new homework!! I'm so very proud of your efforts and I know it was a bit scary and hairy at times but Way. To. Go!!!
The class is becoming quite proficient in handling laptops, usernames, passwords, emails, Google Classroom and such. We even explored Google Draw and sent a thank you note to one of the RRISD Board Members to let her know we appreciated her hard work on behalf of us.
Our Valentine's Party is coming soon. Please take a look below at what we'll be doing to prepare for the day of friendship and candy.
Homework
I hope to include websites like we used during the geometry review week to make things more interesting for those that finish problem solving early.
Don't forget: All homework is completed in your Everything Notebook unless stated otherwise.
Really Don't Forget: Choose "Mark as Done" when all work is finished!!
Wish List
-we could use your clean, mismatched socks for use as erasers for our dry erase boards
Special Thanks
Jessica saved my sanity when I was teaching a lesson to two classes! She was so helpful and did an amazing job of going around and checking in with students.
Dates to Remember

What We're Studying and Learning...
Reading-
We will be continuing to practice on identifying the main idea of a passage, fiction and nonfiction, and provide text evidence to support our main idea.
Writing-
Students will draft and evaluate their fiction writing.
Math-
We will continue our exploration of equivalent fractions. Students will be using models to make decisions about fractions that have the same or different denominators and numerators. We’ll build on our work from earlier to deepen our understandings!
Science-
We are developing our understanding of food chains. We are learning the sequence of a food chain and the roles of producers and consumers within a habitat/environment. We are also having our Science test this week!
Social Studies-
We are focusing on map skills. We will discuss intermediate directions, cardinal rose, the continents, etc. We will be doing interactive map skills to reinforce the TEKS we need to know for geography and map skills.
Upcoming Valentine's Party
Each third grade class will be having a Valentine's Breakfast for students only. We are asking that parents not attend this gathering but reserve their energy for our end of year celebration which will take all of us to do!
We are in need of a few items so if you would kindly take a look and see if there is anything you can supply, we'd appreciate it greatly.
I promise to take loads of pictures and get them on a page as quick as I can!
ALL STUDENTS will need a Valentine's Box. They will be creating these at home as homework starting next week.
Everyone in the class will need to bring in cards for each classmate too!
So... start looking for a large enough box (about the size of an adult shoe box or bigger) and think about what kind of theme you want for your box.
More info on the box will be going out on Feb. 1st!
