Dear Teachers-
Thanks for all that you did today (and everyday) in your classroom…
For making a million little split second decisions for the benefit of your students.
For putting your own needs on hold and keeping them the focus of your day.
For planning for them long before today ever got rolling.
For changing those plans because they didn’t fit someone who needed a little extra.
For smiling, laughing with them and reassuring their efforts, trials and mistakes.
For placing your hand on a shoulder that was exactly what someone needed.
For getting down on the physical level of your students because it matters.
For thinking of a new way to reach someone who wasn’t getting it.
You matter.
Yes –
You matter.

~Summer Opportunities:
Engaging ELs in Academic Conversations: Strategies that Work
Please see the information below regarding a summer learning opportunity. Enrollment will be capped at 28 participants per session on a first come, first serve basis.
According to John Hattie’s work, Academic Discourse (SIOP Interaction) has an effective size of .82, so it is imperative all students engage in collaborative conversation. Knowing there are students who tend to “hide” and not participate, especially ELs, it is critical for teachers to have protocols in place that engage all students.
In our two-day workshop, Engaging ELs in Academic Conversation: Strategies that Work, attendees will participate in numerous cooperative learning protocols, modeling the practices they can then take back and implement in their classrooms.
If you would like to attend, we will be offering two 2-day workshops from which you can choose one that works best with your schedule. Participants will be paid a $200 stipend for attending the two-day session (must attend both days to receive the stipend).
Workshop 1 May 30th and July 19th 8:00-4:00
Workshop 2 July 22nd and July 23rd 8:00-4:00
