Hybrid/ DL Cohorts
Parents of 2nd and 3rd grade students will be made aware of their child's hybrid cohorts and DL teachers on Monday, October 19th at 5:00PM. Our top priority is keeping Briones students with Briones classmates and teachers, however, as previously mentioned, there are no guarantees.
If we are unable to make the numbers work in the DL program within our school we work within our cluster of schools, in our case, the west cluster which includes Briones, Barron Park , Escondido, and Nixon. If we are unable to create cohorts within our cluster, we reach out across all sites to create and staff classes.
4th and 5th grade parents/guardians will receive surveys on Monday, October 19th and they will be due Monday, October 26th. Cohorts and DL classes will be announced on Monday, November 2nd at 5:00 PM.
In January, if you are interested in switching models and if there is space in that model, then you will be able to switch at that point.
HYBRID AND DISTANCE LEARNING AT - A - GLANCE
Distance Learning
Students will continue learning from home five days a week in the program we have been providing this year. Families remain part of the Briones school community whether you have a DL teacher from Briones or another site. You will continue to receive communication from the Briones PTA and me. Students who have IEPs or receive reading or EL support will continue to work with Briones Special Education staff, Reading Specialists, and EL teacher.
If you select Distance Learning, lunch will begin at 11:50 AM.
To facilitate social distancing, classrooms will be divided into two cohorts, cohort A and cohort B. To ensure social distancing on the playground, cohorts will eat and play in one of six zones each week.

Unity Day at Briones!
Unity Day is a time to celebrate friendship, kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and we will be celebrating in both our hybrid and distance learning programs! Please help your student get into the spirit of Unity Day by wearing as much orange as possible on October 21st. We encourage creativity! Orange clothing, ribbons, hats, or orange backgrounds on zoom - the sky is the limit!
Since we are unable to take a school-wide photo in person, we will take zoom and in-class photos and make them into a school-wide photo! Teachers will be talking about the importance of this day and PTA will also be reaching out with information about a virtual Friendship Tree project. Thanks to our coordinators Laurie and Yuri! More to come!
The messages that Unity Day celebrates are vital, especially during these unprecedented times, which is why it is more important than ever to keep our attention on them all year!
