Good Evening Dream!
I had the privilage of sitting on stage and particiating in all five graduations this weekend. Seeing our students walk across the stage with their Dream stoles on has filled my spirits and made me so proud! With this newletter being the last one for the school year, I would like to remind all graduates leaving U46 that you are well prepared for what is ahead of you. Make each day count. Like Dr. Johnson stated on stage during the ceremony, you get the chance to create your own schedule and find that "special" that makes you excited, each and every day. Everything you need is around you and inside of you. If you ever get stuck finding the strength, we are always here to support you.
For those of you who served in our military, THANK YOU for fighting for our freedom. As an immigrant and military family myself, I am thankful for the committement that you made to serve our country. This year, we have several Dream Aacdemy students who have signed up serve in the military. It is an honor to know that you will be serving our country and representing your fellow Americans.
As we close out the school year in just two more school days, I reflect on all of the powerful connections that we made in school. Although your children will be enjoying their summer break, I encourage you to connect with them each and every day to make positive choices in the community.
This school year we had the opportunity to participate in curriculum-based community trips outside of our greater Elgin community. Students had the opportunity to visit downtown Chicago and Morton Arboretum. These are places that are only a train ride away where you can have access to different people and cultures. I encourage you to take the time to explore communities outside your own so that you can learn what other communities have to offer. It can really be a rewarding experience to visit new places just outside of our own community. Click on this link for all the free museum days in Chicago. Tuve el privilegio de sentarme en el escenario y participar en las cinco graduaciones este fin de semana. ¡Ver a nuestros estudiantes cruzar el escenario con sus estolas Dream me llenó el espíritu y me hizo sentir muy orgulloso! Dado que este boletín es el último del año escolar, me gustaría recordarles a todos los graduados que se van de U46 que están bien preparados para lo que les espera. Hacer que cada día cuente. Como dijo el Dr. Johnson en el escenario durante la ceremonia, tienes la oportunidad de crear tu propio horario y encontrar ese "especial" que te emociona todos los días. Todo lo que necesitas está a tu alrededor y dentro de ti. Si alguna vez te quedas atascado encontrando la fuerza, siempre estamos aquí para apoyarte.
Para aquellos de ustedes que sirvieron en nuestro ejército, GRACIAS por luchar por nuestra libertad. Como familia inmigrante y militar, estoy agradecido por el compromiso que hicieron para servir a nuestro país. Este año, tenemos varios estudiantes de Dream Aacdemy que se han inscrito para servir en las fuerzas armadas. Es un honor saber que estará sirviendo a nuestro país y representando a sus compatriotas estadounidenses.
Mientras cerramos el año escolar en solo dos días escolares más, reflexiono sobre todas las poderosas conexiones que hicimos en la escuela. Aunque sus hijos disfrutarán de sus vacaciones de verano, los animo a conectarse con ellos todos los días para tomar decisiones positivas en la comunidad.
Este año escolar tuvimos la oportunidad de participar en viajes comunitarios basados en el currículo fuera de nuestra gran comunidad de Elgin. Los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar el centro de Chicago y Morton Arboretum. Estos son lugares que están a solo un viaje en tren donde puedes tener acceso a diferentes personas y culturas. Lo animo a que se tome el tiempo de explorar comunidades fuera de la suya para que pueda aprender lo que otras comunidades tienen para ofrecer.
