On my way home
I was also able to attend the Wednesday luncheon that honored our school board as one of the Outstanding School Boards in the nation. Jeff Eisenmenger and Mike Bamsey were also able to attend the luncheon and it was great that they could attend some sessions before and after we were honored with the award.
Lastly, I received some very exciting news yesterday! For the past few weeks, we have been working on submitting 2 grants from the Excellence in Education arm of the Archbishop's Ignite the Faith campaign. The exciting news is that both HAVE BEEN APPROVED!
One grant will help us upgrade the wireless access in both school buildings. The exact amount of this grant is unknown due to the changing costs of the work to be done, but I expect it to be more than $50,000. The other grant award is for $60,000 and will cover a new database (something we've NEVER had and have needed for a long time), which will include the costs of the program, training, updates, and improvements, and a person to run and update the database and assist with our alumni relations--and do some other things for us as well.
Both of these grant request items were identified in our Strategic Plan and will help us move forward into the future! You will hear more about these grant from me very soon, but for now I can tell you that I am VERY happy to get them!!
Love to see those smiles!
The last 30 days of school
Even though we are closing in on the end of the school year, you may need to review your class rules and expectations again. Maybe you haven't done that since January. Maybe not since August! But keep communicating your expectations to the students--and make sure they continue to live up to them throughout the end of the school year.
