Instruction has gotten in full swing:
Thank you SMS staff, parents and students for making this a smooth beginning! I think this year has been the BEST start of the school year, yet! Because we had such a great turn out for our Buff Round Up, we could get classes scheduled and running faster! We have been visiting the classes to see the students and watch the great instruction as teachers have been able to get started sooner. Teachers have taken the first 3 days of school to go over their classroom expectations for behavior and learning.
A continued focus for us this year is to have the students really take ownership of their grades and assessments. The Science classes will be teaching the students how to access their student portal. It is much like the parent portal and allows students to stay on top of their grades. We will be working with them on charting their testing data and then setting SMART goals to achieving higher success throughout the school year. It will be a GREAT help and benefit to your student if you will ask them from time to time what goal they are working on in their various classes.
Stanton Middle School TEA Accountability Rating

Our Goal for 2023 TEA Accountability
We want a "B" Rating for the 2023 STAAR Ratings!
We have been working over the past years to get the instructional practices and curriculum in place to get us there. We need you and your student's continued help if we are going to reach our goal. We need every student to attend school everyday, ready and actively participating in their learning. Please ask them about what they are learning, help them complete their homework and to study for their tests. All of us working together will get us to a "B" Rating the SMS Buffaloes are aiming for.
Let the STAAR Wars Begin! It is time for RISE of the BUFFALOES!!
