February 1, 2018 - 8:30 a.m. Brain-Considerate Learning with Dr. Kenneth Wesson
"Understanding the human brain’s processing methodologies can help educators develop instructional practices and classroom environments that are compatible with, and reflect, the natural inclinations for thinking and learning in the human brain. This can improve cognition and academic success for all students." Kenneth Wesson
Understanding how the brain works is critical to facilitating effective instruction. Dr. Kenneth Wesson will share insights on the neuroscience of learning and strategies for “brain-considerate” learning. Attend this session to explore the research on Cognitive Science and how it is used to enhance student learning.
Wesson is an international speaker and educational consultant for preschool through university-level institutions from San Jose, California. His research is frequently published and referenced in Parents Magazine, HealthNet, and the journal Brain World.

February 5 or February 7, 2018 - 8:30 a.m. Advanced ETR/IEP Training for Related Service Providers
- Gain a deeper knowledge of the ETR process and receive resources to support the development of district comprehensive collaborative ETRs.
- Obtain hands-on training around the development of present levels, well-defined measurable goals and objectives, and align methods for progress monitoring and specially designed instruction. Please bring a copy of an ETR and IEP of one student to use during our training activities. Be sure to remove any identifying information.
- Learn ways to effectively share baseline data and student progress with the IEP team, including parents.
Fee: $25 for member districts/$50 for non-member districts
Lunch is on your own - 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

February 14, 2018 - 8:30 a.m. OTES Next Steps
Veteran principals comfortable with OTES are encouraged to attend this three-day training. This training will focus on coaching teachers for improved performance, practice research-based high-quality coaching strategies, and learn to give quality feedback to teachers – NOT viewing videos. Additionally, principals will use teacher effectiveness data to inform professional conversations when working with staff to institute targeted professional development.
- Completion of all three days will qualify principals for the two-year renewal of OTES credential.
- Participating principals may attend any of the locations where the modules are offered.
- 28 contact hours will be provided, including ten additional hours of on-site implementation.

Online Book Studies Created for Teachers of Gifted Students

Participants will need access to the book for each study. Assignments will include reading chapters, responding to questions, designing and delivering differentiated lessons, and reflecting on one’s own practices.

The modules may include readings, self-assessments, case studies, lesson design, and reflection.

American Sign Language Enrichment Programming
Classes can be taken as singleton connections or in a series. Each 40-minute class will consist of live instruction and supplemental materials for that topic. Our instructors use a variety of fun and interactive activities to keep students involved the entire instructional period.

Distance Learning Event - Celebration of Seuss
Join us for this fun, interactive lesson to celebrate the birthday of the beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss! This distance learning event focuses on fun facts about Theodor Seuss Geisel and his classic story “Green Eggs and Ham”. Students will "show what they know" when they play "The Feud - Seuss Style" against other classrooms. Students will express their creative side while completing a bead backpack pull especially designed for this program. It’s a “Seussical” good time!
