Middle School Registration

Action Needed - Middle School Elective Registration
Parents/guardians of 5th graders,
The middle school registration process had just begun the week that schools were closed due to COVID-19. Fifth grade teachers have input recommendations for students’ core classes, however, most students’ elective choices still need to be selected online. Some track 2 students were able to complete this process with Mrs. MacEntee before schools closed. If your Track 2 student has already done this, there is no need for any further action. All tracks 1, 3, and 4 (and some track 2) students still need to register. We are asking for your help this year to ensure that all* of our 5th grade students submit their elective choices online. Think of this as a fun activity you can do with your 5th grader while quarantining!
*If your child will be attending Centennial Middle School, you do not need to complete this process. They will be contacting you regarding next steps.
Elective sheets, listing all the course options for each middle school, can be found at http://wcpss.net/rising6th. Please note how many courses, and of what length (quarter, semester, year-long) the middle school is asking you to choose. This is a great opportunity to talk with your child about middle school in general and listen to their questions/concerns.
Below are links to instructions and a tutorial video that explain how to help your student register for their elective choices.
This does not guarantee that they will get into these classes, but lets the middle school know what they would like.
Please email Mrs. MacEntee (Tracks 1 & 2) or Ms. Waddell (Tracks 3 & 4) to let us know when you have submitted your child’s elective choices. We would like to have you complete this by Friday, April 10. After all elective choices have been submitted, Mrs. MacEntee and Ms. Waddell will email each family with verification of your child’s choices.
If you or your child have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. MacEntee or Ms. Waddell. We are here to help your child as he or she prepares for middle school!
Thank you for your help with this process!

FOR RISING SALEM MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY
Some of Salem Middle School's elective courses are paired together to make 18 weeks total (a semester course). Students must select both of the courses listed in the pairing. These are the paired courses that must be selected together:
- Digital Literacy and Keyboarding
- Exploring Nutrition and Wellness and Exploring Relationships and Childcare
- Project Revive and Exploring Technology
Please make sure you select both courses in a pairing when you choose your electives online. Thank you!
