6th grade is enjoying the wonderful morning weather during LitCircle. We have also enjoyed learning about the freedoms that we have in with our citizenship. The student practiced the skills of summarizing, central idea, and key details by making short films for freedom week.

Middle school experiences Boba Tea and learned about culinary safety and sanitation. The expressions of students trying something new was priceless.

8th grade students are working on the Sun and the Solar System. We are having great conversations about properties of the sun and the spectrum of light that the sun emits. The 8th grade students are making a great progress so far.

ROBOTICS
TSMS Robotics Team is working on designing and building a brand new robot. Robotics team students need to come with the best design in order to complete as many missions as possible. There is limited time for completion of missions so that designing the robot plays a critical role in the competition.
MATH OLYMPIAD
Math Olympiad students practiced Counting Shapes in a Composite Figures.
Students were given around 9 minutes (3 minutes per problem) to go through the warm-up problems. After students tried the warm-up problems, the they viewed the video and followed along with the solutions.
After watching the video, students went back and finish any warm-up problems they didn’t have time to complete or solved incorrectly. Then students were given another 9 minutes to try the next three problems. At the end of the study session, students tried doing the ultimate high five challenge. We had a lot educational and fun moments.
ARTS AND CRAFTS CLUB
This week in arts & crafts club the students created an animal of their choosing! The students could either make an animal or something that they imagined! We had an alligator, cats, unicorns, elephants, and more! Next week we will be incorporating fall into our craft.

This Thursday, we had Chef Terence come to talk about his journey through Culinary and his small business. Chef Terence (Secret Word: Coming)is currently a student at Florida State University and a chef at Aura Downtown. He just started his catering business called Savere Eats that has catered to Patti Labelle, Pauly D and so many other celebrities since it’s opening. We enjoyed having him and can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.
MRS. DISKIN
This week, Mrs. Diskin worked with the 5th grade classes by leading Restorative Circles. This entailed, team building exercises and getting to know you activities all focused on building community, communication and trust among the students and teachers.
TSMS will have a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Students can pay their homeroom teacher $1 to participate in wearing PINK. 100% of money raised will go directly to the American Cancer Society. Feel free to donate more than $1.
In honor of World Day Bullying Prevention, students are encouraged to show support by wearing blue.
Students may dress down in RED to celebrate RED RIBBON WEEK. Students will take the National Red Ribbon Campaign pledge, and promise to do their part in creating a drug free America.
Students will dress up for BOOK CHARACTER DAY. A flyer will be sent home from each teacher, explaining the book characters your student’s will be dressing up as.
Jewelry and accessories should be appropriate for school
Extreme hairstyles are not permitted (examples: Mohawk haircuts; designs, words, or names cut into the hair;
Hair coloring other than standard frosting or natural highlighting) and should not attract undue attention.
Also, Hats, caps, curlers, headscarves, bandannas, doo-rags, pick combs, combs, brushes, sweatbands, chains, sunglasses, tennis skirts, gloves, are not to be worn during school hours
