Hello Maybury Parents & Scholars and Welcome to week 12 of 2021!

Be sure to check out all the new sections for new information to include official state testing information, spirit week info, spring break info, update on quarter 4 and hybrid/virtual options and the cell phone policy that we will implement upon our return!

• We are now in 4th quarter. Report Cards for the 3rd Grading Period will be available on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Directions for retrieving grade cards can be found below.

• Encourage your scholar to finish the year strong and assist them with a schedule to ensure their work is being completed and turned in

• Our school day runs from 8:00-2:00 pm. Onsite scholars should be picked up at 2:00 pm, but no later than 2:15 pm as our teachers need to transition to teaching their virtual scholars. 100% virtual scholars will receive live instruction from 2:30-4:00 pm. Your scholars teacher will communicate directly with scholars and parents via email, class dojo, and kickboard with login platforms and information. 100% virtual scholars all have required work to complete throughout the school day so it is imperative that they/you are consistently checking their emails and submitting the required work.

• PLEASE remember to have your scholar bring their device each time they come onsite. Have them charge their devices the night before so they are ready to rock and roll when the school day begins!

• Please be sure that your scholar is logging on daily at his/her scheduled time. Attendance is taken every day. We are mandated by the state to withdraw any scholar who misses 72 consecutive hours of school.

• The new schedule is linked below for you to review. Please note that Wednesday's 100% virtual scholars receive a rotation of specials from 8:00-11:00 am and then receive live instruction via whole group/small group from 11:30-3:30. Specific login times for 11:30-3:30 will be communicated with parents and scholars from the teacher.

We hope that all of our scholars and families enjoy spring break and take some much needed time away from electronics. We believe that our scholars are very deserving of this well-earned break after having worked so hard whether attending 100% virtually or attending via our hybrid model. It is our hope that all of our families have a safe and most relaxing time next week!

It has been decided that State Testing will be taking place this year. It is required that scholars take the test IN-PERSON. Yes, we will accommodate the specific health and safety needs of scholars, due to COVID. More information to come.

Dye-ve Into Spring Tie-me - Spring began on March 20th! Show some springtime energy with bright colors and tie-dyed clothing!

If your scholar is currently 100% virtual and you're interested in him/attending for the hybrid model, please reach out directly to your scholar's teacher who will then let office administrators know. If we have room and are able to accommodate your scholar, we will ensure that your scholar's teacher or someone from the front office communicates this information to you.

Beginning on April 6th, 2021, when we return from spring break, 4th grade will move from a C day schedule to an A/B day schedule as we have reached our maximum capacity in the 4th grade classroom. This means that your scholar will either attend A days (Monday & Tuesday) or B days (Thursday & Friday). Please be on the lookout for communication from Ms. Harvey regarding which specific days your scholar should be attending.

As of April 6th, 2021, scholars will need to be prepared to turn in their cell phones as they enter the building until the end of the day as was done in the past. Each classroom will have a container and each scholar will have a ziplock bag with his/her name on it. Please help us by ensuring your scholar comes to school with their phone already in their bag and ready to drop into the appropriate container as to ensure a smooth morning start that runs alongside their temperature checks and grabbing breakfast. Should there be an emergency where your scholar needs to contact you, they can alert their teacher they need to go to the front office and should you need to contact them, please simply call our front office at 614-626-2250. We thank you in advance for your help in facilitating and navigating this change!

As a reminder, hotspots usage are STRICTLY for school work only. There is a 22gb data cap for 4G. Once that cap is reached the device will revert to 3G which produces slower speeds.

This means your child will experience difficulty connecting to the internet until the new cycle renews on the 16th of each month.

In the event hotspots are identified as being misused, they may risk being deactivated. Please reach out with any further questions.

Device Care & Tips

Many of our scholars have received devices for virtual learning.

Below are a few tips to prevent the devices from low performance, damage, or accidental lost.

Ø Ensure the case remains on the IPad or Chromebook.

Ø Ensure food and drink are not around the device.

Ø Ensure scholars are stationary when using the device.

Ø Monitor data usage on the hotspot.

Ø When lessons have concluded for the day, ensure the scholar places the device in the same location for the next day.

Ø Ensure that your scholar's device is plugged in at the end of the day in order to be fully charged for the next school day.
