Kindergarten Updates 05.08.2023
Take the Incoming Kindergarten Survey Today!
As we are preparing for the upcoming school year, we hope to gather a bit of information that will help us be most prepared to meet your student's needs at the start of the year. We have developed a brief survey to help us collect that information. You are welcome to fill out the survey for your student; however, we also hope that you might share the survey link with anyone else who spends a significant amount of time with your student (preschool teacher, daycare provider, etc.) so that we could gain their perspective as well. The responses will be shared with our Kindergarten teachers only.
We hope to receive all survey responses by Friday, May 19th. Thank you for your assistance in sending the survey link on to anyone who might have additional insight on your student - it is just fine to have multiple responses for a single student.

Register Your Incoming Kindergarten Student Today!
Welcome to Fairmount School! I am pleased to share that District 58 has opened its 2023-24 Online Registration Portal, and I invite you to begin registering your student. District 58 encourages families to register their student(s) in a timely manner, as early registration helps the District determine its staffing, classroom and transportation needs for the upcoming school year.
District 58 recommends families register their student using a computer when possible (although families can also use a mobile device). The PowerSchool app does not support registration. If you have technical questions during registration, please contact District 58’s Technology Help Desk by filling out a Technology Help Ticket here or calling 630-719-2768. If you have general registration questions, please contact us here at 630-719-5830.
How to Register: Kindergarten Students
Please follow the below steps to register your new student for 2023-24. Please also visit www.dg58.org/kindergarten for helpful kindergarten-specific information.
Step 1: Determine your school. View our School Boundary Map to determine the correct school for your child.
Step 2: Complete pre-registration.
Click here to access the Enrollment Pre-registration Form.
Complete and submit the form.
Once submitted, the school will process your pre-registration, and you will receive an email with next steps:
“District 58 Registration Next Steps” email – sender: noreply@dg58.org
Step 3: Create your PowerSchool account. The “District 58 Registration Next Steps” email will give you instructions for creating a PowerSchool account (if you do not already have one), and then setting up a new student account through PowerSchool.
Step 4: Complete registration forms and submit required documents.
Log on to your PowerSchool account.
If you have multiple children, please select a student from the menu on the upper left. (Please remember to complete a separate registration for each of your children).
In the left navigation panel, click on “Forms.”
In the Forms menu, click on the “Enrollment” tab.
All registration forms will appear. Click on the first form, “A: Student Information 2023-24” to begin the registration process.
Complete all registration forms and download all required supplemental documents. The registration portal will explain which documents are required.
Your “Enrollment” homepage will show which forms are submitted and empty (“empty” includes forms that haven’t been started, as well as forms in progress).
Please note: all new students must submit a paper certified copy of their birth certificate to the school office in person or by mail (schools cannot accept birth certificates sent by email).
Please remember to submit any other supplemental documents (i.e. health forms) either by email, mail or in person to the school office.
Residency Update
District 58 will continue to contract with Thomson Reuters CLEAR, a third party vendor, to automatically verify student address information. The vendor will use parent and/or guardian names and addresses to crosscheck the information against other public electronic databases, such as utility companies, DMV records, property tax records. This service has been safely used by many surrounding school districts to verify student residency information, including District 99.
In some circumstances, additional documentation will be needed:
Families of all new students
Families of all kindergarten students (regardless of preschool attendance or current siblings in the District)
Families that annually lease their residence
Families that provide an affidavit of residency
Families whose residency is not able to be electronically verified
Verifying residency is an effort to protect taxpayers and district resources by identifying non-residents attending District 58 schools. Illinois law mandates that parents demonstrate residency prior to enrollment in school and allows for periodic verification to validate compliance with the law.
Step 5: Pay student fees.
After District 58 processes your child’s registration, you will receive an email invoice from the District’s PushCoin system with all registration fees for 2023-24.
The PushCoin email arrives approximately a week after you submit your child’s registration.
Fees are due by the first day of school.
While we encourage families to use the PushCoin system to pay registration fees, families may also pay by check. If paying by check, please clearly identify the student(s) for whom the fees are being paid. Please make checks payable to “Downers Grove Grade School District 58” and send the check to your school or the District office at 2300 Warrenville Road, Suite 200NE, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
District 58 encourages families to register online. If you are unable to register online, you may contact your school office to request paper registration forms be mailed to your home.
Please visit www.dg58.org/registration for more information.

Full-Day Kindergarten approved for 2023-2024
As you may know, District 58 will now offer a universal full-day kindergarten program for the coming 2023-24 school year. What this means is that the tuition-based full-day program known as OKEEP will end after the current school year. Please note that the usual yearly student registration fee will be required, which is $241 for students K-6 for the 2023-24 school year. By state law, school districts must offer a half-day kindergarten option. Families interested in pursuing this program should contact their school office.
Additionally, District 58 offers a two-way Dual Language kindergarten program housed at El Sierra School. Also, please reference our Kindergarten Resources webpage for additional information about kindergarten, including the Dual Language program, ways to help your child get ready for kindergarten and more.
District 58 Kindergarten Resources
Entrance into kindergarten will be a new and exciting experience, one that is eagerly met by child and parent alike. Our kindergarten program is developed along research-based quality curricula and rooted in everything we continue to learn about educational best practices. Your child’s time in kindergarten will truly set them up for success as they enter the primary grades. Please visit District 58’s Kindergarten Resource Page to learn more.
Health Information
Our kindergarten students are required to have a completed health exam form, dental exam form and eye exam form. Please see the 2023 Health Letter for more details. Families can email completed forms to the Fairmount School Nurse, Jenny Mazur, at jmazur@dg58.org or bring completed forms to the school office. We encourage families to submit completed health forms as soon as possible.
