PTO letter to families
Dear Hyman Fine Families,
The Hyman Fine PTO needs your help!
The last two years have been challenging for all of us – to say the least. In addition, due to the pandemic the Hyman Fine PTO has been extremely limited in its ability to fundraise, organize events and to fully carry out its mission. But, we now find ourselves in a position to rebuild, rethink and reenergize our organization.
The Hyman Fine PTO is currently seeking nominations for the following board positions:
· Co-President
· Co-Vice President
· Co-Secretary
· Co-Treasurer
If you are interested in serving in a board position, please email Nicole Vassar, nvassar2@gmail.com.
.
If a board position seems like too big of a commitment for you, there are still plenty of ways to volunteer and contribute. We are in need of point people/volunteers for various PTO endeavors at Hyman Fine, including:
· Spirit Wear Sales
· Book Fair
· Boosterthon
· Someone Special Dance
· Yearbook
· Teacher Appreciation Week
· Other ideas!
We all want our students to have the richest experience possible at Hyman Fine, but we cannot accomplish that without the support of Hyman Fine families. Please consider volunteering in whatever capacity you are able – email Nicole Vassar, nvassar2@gmail.com, with your questions.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

COVID Testing Follow-Up
We continue to ask that students and staff in the school be extra diligent with daily symptom self checks, hand washing, and proper mask wearing for those wishing to wear a mask in the building. All students and staff choosing to wear a mask will be supported; please talk to your child about wearing a mask so they know what you expect. Using proper safety measures will help to safeguard your health. If any symptoms occur, please reach out to the school nurse and/ or primary care provider for guidance. Symptomatic individuals should remain home and obtain a test regardless of vaccination status. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to keep our school community safe.
DAILY SELF CHECK
Below is the full list of symptoms for which caregivers should monitor their children.
COVID-19 symptoms list:
● Fever (100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), chills, or shaking chills
● Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
● New loss of taste or smell
● Muscle or body aches
● Cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
● Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms
● Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea when in combination with other symptoms
● Headache, when in combination with other symptoms
● Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
● Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies), when in combination with other symptoms.
Message about Sick Children
It is requested that you do not send children to school when they are sick or symptomatic for both health and safety reasons. If your child is deemed a close contact outside school they will need to stay at home following the timeline you are given; please let us know when your child will not be in school and let us know if you need help determining when they can return by emailing the school nurse, Mrs. Mages.
Children will receive instruction that is missed when they return to school. Teachers will not be providing packets for children to complete at home. There is plenty your child can do at home to practice and strengthen their skills.
Children can work on Lexia and ST Math; guidelines for the programs are below to help you support your child. Children can also practice sight words, writing stories and work on mastering math facts. We request that all children read every day - don't forget to fill in your reading calendar!

We thank you for your ongoing adherence and encouragement of health and safety guidelines as it has made a difference. We will continue to follow our protocols and be vigilant about our guidelines.
