Godley Elementary School
Leadership Event
What is a Leadership Event?
Leadership Event is a fun-filled family and community night where kids in our host homerooms showcase their leadership skills at different stations throughout the building. As a Leader in Me school, Leadership Event gives our students the chance to show what they know about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Everyone in the community is invited to come out Tuesday, October 24, 5:30-7:00. We would love for you to participate in the stations, but if you just want to see what’s going on and not participate, that’s great too!
Student hosts will be available to show you around so don’t be discouraged if you aren’t familiar with our building.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Just like a saw needs to be sharpened when dull, the body, mind,
heart, and soul need continuous renewal. Sharpen the Saw
focuses on continuously improving your life and work.
Some ways we sharpen our saw:
-exercise
-eat healthy
-sleep/rest
-relax
-read/write
-learn new skills
-build relationships
-family time
-playing with friends
-give back
-laugh/love
-meditating/praying
-keep a journal
-yoga
-take in quality media
Habit 8: Find Your Voice
Habit 8 is the sneaky, hidden habit. It helps us focus on finding something we are good at and like doing. It helps us remember to be proud, but not boast. It helps us remember to help others. It helps us learn to speak up for ourselves and others and to let our little lights
shine for all to see.
