8th Grade Reality Store - March 20
Dear AGS 8th Grade Parents,
On March 20th, your student has an exciting opportunity to get a hands-on lesson about financial management at AGS Reality Store Day. Reality Store Day will let your student pick a career and will assign them an income, marital status, and more. They will then manage their budget during a one hour simulation.
Genisys Credit Union partners with schools to host this event so that students can learn the importance of managing their money in a safe environment. Our goal is to give them the tools needed to be successful once they become adults.
In order to participate in this exciting program, your student will need to download an app prior to Reality Store Day. This app will tell them all the information they need for Reality Store Day and act as a storefront where they pay for goods and services.
To download the app:
Go to the Google Play Store or App Store on your smart device.
Search “Bite of Reality 2” in the store. Hit download.
We will provide the Sponsor Code, Event Code, and Password the day of the event.
If you have additional questions, please call or email Sue Kocks at 810-591-7717 or skocks@fentonschools.org from AGS.
Counselors' Corner
2023 - 2024 registration is complete!
Please ask your student to show you the classes they chose (may be viewed in their StudentVue account). IF your student changes their mind about a class they selected, they are NOT able to go into their StudentVue & make that change. We directed students to make an appointment/email their counselor if this is the case.
2023-2024 6th grade registration started!
Counselors , Mr. Rettenmund & Mr. Seath began by visiting State Road Elementary this week & will visit the Tomek-Eastern & North Road Elementaries next week to register our incoming 6th graders. Information about this process was communicated by the elementaries.
If your student needs support, please contact their AGS School Counselor. We are happy to help.

Positivity Project
Theme of the Week: Spirit Week
Week of March 20
“Spirit Week”
Monday: Random Acts of Kindness Day
As the kick off to our spirit week, wear Green to support The Positivity Project! We want students to be kind to each other everyday, but we want to set aside one day to encourage them to rack up as many acts of kindness as possible (especially for those they might not think of). We will encourage them to document the acts and share photos with Ms. Wissinger to share in our Tiger News!
Tuesday: School Paper Chain
During SRT we will give students a strip of paper to decorate, including their name. Then have each one attach theirs to the chain in turn. These chains will be hung in the hallway where kids can see them daily to be reminded that we are all connected.
Wednesday: Day Without Hate
As students enter the building all students will be provided with pieces of yarn (long enough to tie on a wrist). Students will be asked to tie it onto a fellow student or staff member. When doing so, students will say something nice, this will let the person know why they are honoring them. We will encourage students to think beyond their normal circle of friends.
*****As staff members we will look for students who haven’t many and honor them.
Thursday: Staff Thank -You Notes
During SRT students will spend some time recognizing staff, teachers, and admin at school. Every student will be encouraged to write at least one letter. We don’t want to forget our unsung heroes such as: custodian, cafeteria workers, and secretaries.
Friday: High Five Friyay
All staff members will greet kids in the morning (car line, busses, and in hallways) with foam hands. Students will be able to give high fives if they choose. Staff will come around and take photos of the event to be shared with Tiger News! Oh, and don’t forget to wear your Tiger Gear!🐯
Commit to Fit - Active Schools Challenge
Starting next week students can log their weekly activities into a simple Google Form. AGS won this completion in 2018. We are challenging all students and staff to win the challenge this year! You can visit the Commit 2 Fit website by clicking on the link below!
https://www.commit2fit.com/Default.aspx
After Week 2 AGS currently ranks 9th in the county for middle/high school with 335 points (See chart below).

Positivity in Action at AGS
The Snuggle is Real
For the month of March, AGS is partnering with Snuggle Sacks, an organization that was founded in 2015 by local youth, which strives to bring awareness to homelessness and provide homeless individuals with survival sacks. We will be collecting dry items (new fleece blankets, socks, hats, gloves), food items (granola bars, individual cracker packages, raisins, instant ramen, individual packets of instant coffee), and travel-size toiletry items (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb, chapstick, tissues, cough drops, shampoo, conditioner).
Donation boxes will be available in the main office. Thank you for helping to support our Community Partners! You can visit the official website of Snuggle Sacks by click on the link below:
