Principal's Message
Dear Holliman Families,
As we prepare to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it is important to remember that Martin Luther King Jr. Day is not just a day off from school; it is a day for us to come together as a community to honor the legacy of a great leader who dedicated his life to the principles of equality, justice, and unity.
At Holliman, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes understanding. This day provides a meaningful occasion for families to engage in conversations about the importance of kindness, empathy, and embracing our differences.
I encourage you to take some time on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to discuss Dr. King's achievements with your children. Share stories, read books, or watch age-appropriate documentaries that highlight his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. It's a chance for our young learners to grasp the significance of standing up for what is right and treating others with respect.
As a school community, we will also be incorporating age-appropriate activities into our curriculum to help students learn more about the values Dr. King held dear. Together, let's reinforce the importance of empathy and understanding in shaping a more inclusive and compassionate world.
I am grateful for your ongoing support, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact these conversations can have on our students.
Please know that our doors are always open, and we welcome your feedback, ideas, and involvement in our school community. Don't hesitate to reach out to our staff or myself if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you'd like to share. My direct line, which receives phone calls and text messages is 401-871-4145.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cabana

Indoor Vs. Outdoor Recess
Students need to expend energy; enjoy the fresh air and soak up some vitamin D during their recess,
as often as possible. Unless it is raining, or there would be a danger of allowing outdoor recess, the
students should go outside for recess if the temperature is 32 degrees or above.
RI STATE POLICY 16-21-36. Outdoor recess
No elementary school or private preschool shall permit recess to be held outdoors when the local
temperature falls below thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit (32oF)/ zero degrees Celsius (0oC).
