First WeekCelebrations!
September 5, 2018
Welcome Mr. Fletcher
Mr. Fletcher, BCES Assistant Principal, is having a great fist week meeting students and families and spending time in classrooms. Although he is new to us here at BCES, he served this community last year as the Assistant Principal of Ballenger Creek Middle School. Please introduce yourself to him when you see him!
Smooth Start!
We are having a great first week! We have visited classrooms, connected with new students and families and welcomed those returning back to school! Thank you for saying your good byes out front and letting your child walk into school on his/her own. We have lots of staff members available in the morning to make sure that children find their classrooms without stress or anxiety!
Each class starts their day with a Morning Meeting where children gather in a circle to get the day started together. It's a great way for the children to get to know one another and to build a classroom culture of teamwork and support. I saw some classes playing get to know you games, some sharing about their summer and others expressing how they felt about day one. Ask you child about his/her Morning Meeting each day!
New Faces
We have many new faces at The Creek! We will introduce them to you throughout this first week back. They are quickly figuring out how lucky they are to have landed here! We are happy to have them here!
Ms. Fuller
We welcome Ms. Fuller to the first grade team. She is a recent graduate of Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.
Ms. Seebach
Ms. Seebach joins the Special Education Team after working at Hillcrest Elementary last year. She will split her time between us and Tuscarora Elementary, working at BCES in the morning.
Mrs. Biggus
Mrs. Biggus is a new addition to our specials team! She teaches art here four days a week. Last year, she was an art teacher at Hillcrest Elementary.
Dismissal
Our single most important job the first week of school is making sure all children make it home safely! That is a big task for over 600 students! Thank you for your patience as we take more time at dismissal to help make sure everyone is in the right place! Once routines get established and children are more familiar with their dismissal things move quickly and efficiently. The more consistent you can be with dismissal the better for us! We understand that there are times when changes are unavoidable, but whenever possible, please keep a consistent dismissal routine for your child!
Breakfast in the Classroom
Breakfast is available for all children free of charge each morning. As children arrive to their classrooms they have the option of eating breakfast. It is best to have children at school by 8:45 if they are eating so they have time to eat and be ready for the day to start!
Water Fountains
This summer, water fountains were removed from classrooms and additional fountains were added in halls. We suggest that you send in a reusable water bottle with your child that can be kept at his/her desk.
Starpowered Staff
Take a look at these superstars! Staff posed for a First Day of School picture sharing how many first days each has had!
