Karla Moore
Music Education Major at Adrian College
About Me
My name is Karla Moore. I'm a sophomore studying Music Education at Adrian College. I grew up in North Adams, Michigan. Throughout high school I participated in many extracurricular activities, but music has always been my favorite thing to do. Today, I am in a sorority, I participate in religious life activities, and I am involved in much more around campus. I consider myself passionate and dedicated, and I am excited to see where the future takes me.
Musical Background
I have played piano for over ten years now, which is part of the reason that I became so involved with music. I was in the percussion section in band throughout junior and senior high school. I play a little bit of guitar and drum set as well. I also participated in choir and theatre, but eventually decided to focus more on an instrumental career. At Adrian, I am in the marching/concert band, orchestra, percussion ensemble, choir, and my favorite recent achievement is that I will be attending the MIAA Intercollegiate honors band. I enjoy trying new instruments, and growing as an all around musician.
Why Music Education?
Music has been a part of my life for a very long time, and I can't imagine having a career in anything besides music. It's just what I love to do, and it makes me happy. Growing up, I always looked forward to music classes, whether it was band or choir. It gave me a break from stress and I was able to express myself in a positive way. I remember looking up to my music teacher growing up, and I want to be that teacher that students can look up to. I enjoy sharing my love of music with others, and hope to someday make an impact in the lives of students through music.
