EMS & ELA MULTI-TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT
Take 5...a Tier 2 classroom intervention
The Take 5 is designed to be a Tier 2 intervention for annoying, distracting, and possibly defiant behavior. Escalated defiant and/or dangerous behavior should be addressed by an administrator (send a chat for student pick up).
The student should complete all parts of the Take 5 reflection sheet by writing legibly in complete sentences and naming their own behavior that led to their removal from the learning community.
If the student's answers reveal peer conflict or there is lingering tension between student and you as the teacher, remember to reach out to mandy_miller@engschools.net for restorative support.
Always communicate with parents about student behavior that results in a Take 5 and log this in Contact Log.
Once a student has reached their 3rd Take 5 in your class and the various Tier 2 & 3 interventions you have used are documented in contact log, it is time to write a referral.
Hot Topics...
FTE Count Window..from now through October 10, attendance counts will be used to determine our per student funding. As always, please be sure to document accurate attendance in the first 10 minutes of class, every period/every day.
Check your messages in Planbook...View lesson plan feedback from Annessa and Cindy in Planbook by clicking on the purple quote icon on the top right. When you have a message you will see an exclamation mark in the middle of the quote bubble. Simply click and your messages will open.
If a student is a no show to your class...but has been marked present earlier in the day, please chat admin/security immediately to alert them that a student is a no show. The student may be in an office for some reason, but also may be skipping class. It is essential that we know they are missing from your class so that we can determine which is the case.
Co-teachers...Please be sure that co teachers have full access to class lesson plans as well as google classroom so that they can fully support learning as needed.
