TPCSA Advocacy Rally
The Texas Public Charter Schools Association wants every charter school parent and family member to be informed and empowered. Our students deserve an amazing public education at the school that’s right for them!
There will be a virtual rally for charter parents and families:
Parent Advocacy Rally: Wednesday, February 10th from 5:30 – 6:30 pm
You’ll learn what the charter community is fighting for, hear directly from fellow parent advocates, and learn how easy it is to make a difference for our students.
How are Texas Public Charters funded?
There's a lot of misinformation out there about how public charter schools are funded. So TPCSA created this comprehensive memo to clearly lay out the facts, including where charter funding comes from and how it stacks up against traditional ISDs.
Busting some common charter myths
Kelly Skinner's After Hours Program
Does your child need after school care and supervision? Help with homework? The AFTER HOURS program at our secondary campus has EXPANDED to include any student from elementary or secondary.
Kelly Skinner runs this program independently of the school, and is an LPS mom who loves our school and students. She substitutes regularly and has been very involved in multiple school activities over the past four years. Elementary students will be walked down to the secondary building by Mrs. Skinner after they are released for the day. The classroom at secondary is currently not in use during the school day as it is assigned to an online teacher.
AFTER HOURS is available for early release days and some Full Staff Development days. During the day your child can expect to play games, complete homework, have chrome book time, play outside or in the gym when available, do art projects, science experiments, and watch a G rated movie on full days. Students need their own snack and water, on full days they also need a lunch from home. We follow all of the normal LPS COVID policies, and pick up is at the Secondary building south parking lot (regular drop off and pick up area).
Please contact Kelly Skinner directly to sign up!
