Bragging On...

It doesn't matter how old students are, they love when teachers read aloud to them during transition time, indoor TDPE, or dismissal. Kudos to Dr. Knowles for using a read aloud to transition her students and get them focused, while waiting on everyone to arrive in class. Her students wrote summaries to tell me about the chapter book she is reading to them. Keep up the great job, Dr. Knowles!

Student e-Class usage increased to 89% and our teacher usage was at 95% last week. Keep finding meaningful ways to use e-class as an instructional tool purposefully paired with your effective lessons. Using C&I to research many of the digital QPTS tools will help you all make this match as you plan during your CLT meetings. Keep it up!

Creating a yearbook is a large project that takes time and organization. Thank you to Ms. Dellinger for sponsoring our Yearbook Team and supporting their creation. We will all benefit from her hard work with our students and PTA chairs as we look through this memory book in the near future. Way to go, Ms. Dellinger!

Paw Pass Updates

Please make sure you have posted the Paw Pass that corresponds to the upcoming events that align with your grade level. These are posted in e-CLASS. If you have any questions, please email Dee Dee Stagman.

Zika Update from the Division of School Improvement and Operations

We have received the following health update from the Georgia Department of Public Health (below). We are sharing this information as this is a topic that is on many people's minds. According to state health officials, to date, no locally transmitted Zika cases have been reported in Georgia or anywhere in the United States, but cases have been reported in returning travelers. And with many popular spring break destinations (Caribbean, Central America, South America, Pacific Islands, and Mexico) experiencing outbreaks of the Zika virus, this information could be of interest. Gwinnett County Public Schools has posted the attached update on its web page for Health and Wellness Resources.

Substitutes-Action Required

Every employee is expected to secure a substitute for their position, whether it is a half day or a full day. Splitting classes is not desirable for your teammates or students, and we do not have the staff in the front office to cover classes or call subs for individuals. Every employee must follow the leave process. If you have questions about this process (explained during pre planning), please see Ms. Brown-Townsend immediately. It is a professional expectation that employees have coverage when they are out of the building. If you need to submit a request any time after 10:00 PM prior to your absence, then you must call my cell phone directly and email me. My number is listed on the phone tree in C&I. Thank you for taking the necessary steps for Team Suwanee when you need to be out of the building so teaching and learning remain the focus at our school.
