Exciting Opportunity
Exciting Opportunity: We are excited to share a unique grouping opportunity for rising first and second graders. BCES will offer one multigrade classroom containing both 1st and 2nd grade students for the 2020-2021 school year. This design allows for increased innovation, the flexibility to respond creatively to student needs and the customization of instruction for all learners. There are benefits for all students; older children develop more leadership and responsibility and younger children are stimulated intellectually by older children. All children have a broader social experience with increased opportunities to lead, to follow, and to collaborate. Mrs. Gentzler, current first grade teacher, is excited to teach the multigrade classroom and will have the opportunity to collaborate with several other FCPS schools offering similar grouping structures. Specific information will follow for families in Mrs. Gentzler’s class and then for current kindergarten and first grade families. Administration will offer virtual meetings next week to answer questions and share more specifics about the multigrade model.

Student Groupings
We are beginning the process of class groupings for the 2020-2021 school year and would like to give you the opportunity to share some information that you would like for us to consider related to your child. This consideration form is for you, as parents, to relate specific information about your child that you feel would be beneficial as our teachers meet to determine next year's placement. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS FOR SPECIFIC TEACHERS. Please complete one form for each of your children. As always, we pay careful attention to parent input when making decisions as well as considering the factors listed below. It is a collaborative process and we appreciate your feedback.
the personality and learning style of the child
academic strengths and needs of the child
learning behaviors of the child
special education and/or intervention services
