Craddock's Weekly Update
For the Week of May 8, 2023

We could not be more grateful to have a building filled with the most amazing staff and teachers EVER! They are kind, caring and do all they can to help the students of Craddock learn and grow socially, emotionally and academically. Many thanks go out this week and every week for the fabulous people who work at Craddock! I am truly blessed to work alongside each and every one of them!

Mrs. Menta's Message
I didn't even want to take the space up in the newsletter for this message because there are so many amazing things to share from this past week, especially the 2nd grade performance! All I can say is - WOW! The kids, Mrs. Janoso, Ms, Hickey and our staff did such a wonderful job pulling this together. It took months and months of practice to make it all happen and boy did it happen in a grand way! Congratulations to these stellar performers and a very talented music and art teacher! This was an evening to remember!
Please be reminded that if you are interested in providing feedback on where your child will be placed next year, you must fill out the placement form located below no later than Friday, May 12th. Due to the pace of our process, I cannot promise that information received after that can be taken into consideration. You are also always welcome to reach out or stop in to chat!
For your information, yearbooks will be delivered to Craddock on May 22nd! We will distribute then at that time to students who ordered them. We always get a few extra in case families did not get one. We will sell the extras we have on a first come, first serve basis. More information to come!
We are down to a mere fourteen days left in the 22-23 school year and I cannot believe it. The kids have evolved, grown and learned all year and are truly getting ready to move on. We couldn't be more proud of them. Buckle up! These next few weeks are a fast and furious pace to the finish line. Please stay connected to the Weekly Update and always call us at Craddock should you have any questions at all!
Take care and have a wonderful week! Bring on the warmer temps and sunshine!
Sincerely,
Kim Menta

Lunch on the Lawn details are coming out next week in the Weekly Update. Please know the event is for 2nd graders only and will run from 12:00-1:00 outside. You can request to take your child home after that using the RSVP form below.
We are excited to welcome families of 2nd grade students in for our traditional Lunch on the Lawn celebration from 12:00-1:00 on Thursday, May 25, 2023. All students need an RSVP filled out whether family is attending or not. Thank you!
Please click here if you would like to provide input on your child's placement for the 23-24 school year.
Field Day is Friday, May 19th!
Students should wear their classroom Aurora t-shirts, comfortable athletic shoes and sunscreen. We are also asking all students bring a water bottle labeled with his/her name. These will be able to be refilled as needed outside.
Many thanks to our PTO for all they are doing to make this super fun day happen! We can't wait!
More information on needed volunteers will be out this week via Final Forms.

If at any time, you wish to change your child's mode of transportation for one or more days, you must fill out the Google form attached. We are no longer able to accept notes, phone calls and/or emails to do this, outside of emergencies. Thank you!
It is recommended you check this link often when making decisions about whether your child is buying lunch or not. The menu has been changing more often than we anticipated. Thank you!
We had a new computer system installed over Spring Break. We are finding that if you had linked a credit card to replenish money in your child's account, it was unlinked. Please go back into your settings and set it back up. Thank you!
A Note from Mrs. Ambrosia, School Counselor
Hello Families!
I hope you’re savoring these last moments of the school year and all the fun that comes connected to these memorable times. Students will be exploring careers as a finale to their classroom guidance lessons this May. My hope is they can find an area of interest and further their knowledge of careers in that area.
The 23-24 school year will be a bittersweet one for me as I will have a change in my role and be supporting the students at Miller Elementary three days a week. The other two days, I will be moving to Leighton Elementary as the second school counselor. I am proud to work in a school district that recognizes student needs and works to make meaningful changes to support their school population. Craddock will a have a school counselor FIVE days each week, which has been welcomed and celebrated by all of us that work at this amazing school. I will work alongside the new counselor to support and assist with this transition. Students will likely still see me at Craddock as a result!
While I will dearly miss my current first graders, along with all of the kind, talented and loving staff that walk the halls of Craddock, I will be awaiting them as they graduate as second graders and transition to Leighton as third graders to support them for three more years! To my second grade families, I look forward to working with your students and being a familiar face at Leighton when they start back to school on August!
I am happy to help any student, parent or family with anything they need at any time! My contact number will still be the same at Miller next year: (330) 562-6199, ext. 1260. I can also be reached at lambrosia@aurora-schools.org as needed! Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lindsey Ambrosia

2nd to 3rd Grade Parent Orientation is Coming Soon!
Welcome to all of our Upcoming Leighton Families! It is so hard to believe that the end of another school year is upon us and we will once again be welcoming a new group of 3rd Graders to Leighton Elementary.
I am so excited to meet each of you and am looking forward to welcoming you to Leighton Elementary on Monday, May 8th for our in-person 2nd to 3rd Grade Parent Meeting from 6:30-7:30pm. The parent meeting will be held in the Leighton Gym where we will open our evening together with a presentation from myself, Mr. Lehman, Assistant Principal, and Mrs. Mazzella, School Guidance Counselor, so we can share all the wonderful things that make Leighton Elementary an amazing place to learn and grow. Our presentation will be followed by a building tour and a visit to the 3rd Grade classrooms. There will also be time for a question and answer session!
We are equally as excited to meet our upcoming 3rd Graders on May 22nd when they make their way over to Leighton Elementary from 9:30-10:30 a.m. to enjoy meeting Mrs.Nizen, Mr. Lehman, Mrs. Mazzella, the Third Grade Teachers, and, of course, spending some time on the playground. During this time students will start their morning with a brief welcome by me, and then each classroom will be paired with our Fifth Grade Leighton Leaders who will help take students on a tour around the building and even make a visit to the third grade classrooms to meet the teachers. Our time together will end with a visit to the playground. I can not wait to meet each of you and our upcoming Third Graders in the next few weeks! See you soon at the May 8th 2nd to 3rd Grade Parent Meeting!
As we near the end of the school year our teams at Leighton will be getting ready to begin the process of student placements for our third, fourth, and fifth graders. This process takes several days to complete as many factors are worked through including servicing needs, data to support best placement, teacher and specialist input, parent input, and any student needs. Mrs. Menta has already shared this form! We work very hard to ensure each student is placed in the best learning environment. While we are unable to take specific teacher requests, please feel free to fill out the form provided if you have any special circumstances of which I should be aware. I do my best to honor special circumstances. Mrs. Menta will also be meeting with me to share any special circumstances.
Looking forward to seeing our upcoming Third Grade families and students very soon!
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Michelle Nizen
